Stariana (스타리아나) is the main antagonist of Nickelodeon's 46th non-theatrical full-length animated feature film, Baby Shark's Big Movie. She’s a famous popstar starfish who desires to steal Baby Shark's star mark and control the minds of every fish in the ocean with her singing.
She was voiced by Ashley Tisdale, who's most famous for her roles as Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical franchise, the voice of Camille Leon from Kim Possible, the voice of Candace Flynn in Phineas and Ferb and the voice of Stealth Elf in Skylanders Academy.
Personality[]
Stariana is a young adult who has a music queen character and often thinks about herself, at least she talks enough to her friend Gillie. However, she hates the competition in music (especially with ENHYPEN) but most of all hates the "catchiest fish in the sea" Baby Shark.
Appearance[]
Stariana is a blue starfish with purple eyelashes, purple eyebrows and purple hair tied into a high ponytail held with a tower shell. She wears a pink jumpsuit, a sparkly purple skirt held with a white belt and a star on it. She also wears white go-go boots, two gold bracelets on her right wrist, a beauty mark on the right side of her face and hot pink lipstick. However, Stariana changes her clothes and hairstyle frequently during the whole movie. Before she was famous, Stariana had her hair in a frizzy Afro, had braces on her teeth, wore green pants, a coral shirt, a red belt with a gold buckle and red glasses.
History[]
Before Stariana was a popstar, she was an ordinary starfish who laid on a rock with nobody paying attention to her. She only had one friend named Gillie. And to make matters worse for her, she suffers eternal irritation from the song of the certain "catchiest fish in the sea". Wanting to be noticed by everyone, she decided to become a popstar so that she can become the most popular singer in the sea.
However, despite having a number one hit with her single "It's Stariana!", she wasn’t declared the "catchiest fish in the sea", as that title went to Baby Shark, as indicated by the star-shaped birthmark on the center of his left cheek face. Wanting the star mark for herself, Stariana decides to lure Baby Shark to Chomp City for the annual Chomptacular Concert. For that, first she goes to offering Mommy Shark a job as the lead organizer for the event (thus forcing Baby Shark to move to Chomp City together with his parents) and giving Baby's best friend, William, two front row tickets for his birthday.
While Baby and his parents attempt to adjust to their new life in Chomp City, Stariana and Gillie locate and find a powerful ancient artifact called the Siren Stone, where anyone who sings into it can hypnotize anyone to mindlessly love them. When the time for the Chomptacular comes, Stariana uses the Siren Stone to hypnotize everyone in song to become her mindless fans (including Mommy Shark and Lance Bass how one of the most notable victims of the spell). But then, upon finding out that Baby won't be going to the Chomptacular for some reason, (as Gillie's suggestion) Stariana is preparing to include William as her next victim of the spell, whom she’s using as bait in order for Baby to come to the Chomptacular and gives him an ultimatum: either she keeps William to herself or Baby will give up his star mark to her. While waiting for him, she hypnotizes Daddy Shark to prevent him squealing on her for hypnotizing his wife when he’s asking Mommy Shark for help for his dental business and then notices something weird about her.
Knowing that his friendship with William is more important than anything, Baby agrees to give up his star mark and after Stariana un-hypnotizes William, she uses the Siren Stone to take away Baby's star mark, thus making her the newest catchiest fish in the sea. Because of her newly acquired status, Stariana proceeds to use the Siren Stone to amplify her music across the entire ocean, successfully hypnotizing every fish in the sea (first to the entire Chomp City completely (including Leah, Lannie and all the inhabitants who knew Baby as part of the list of notable victims of the spell)) to like her. While this is happening, William attempts to help Baby sing his theme song to cheer him up and Baby, initially too weak to sing, eventually gets his energy back due to the power of their friendship and manages to snap every fish out of their trance, causing Stariana will start a musical fight against them (even Baby's parents were already freed from the spell before) but she fails to stop them and even Gillie ends her friendship with her because of her selfishness and greediness. And finally, Stariana is going to lose her status as the catchiest fish in the sea. Stariana attempts to use the Siren Stone again, but it instead breaks, causing it to explode and send Stariana back to the rock she once resided on, abandoned and forgotten, where she bemoans "All I ever wanted was everything!" It’s unknown what happened to her but it can be assumed that she had been arrested for her crimes and lost her fame.
