~ King Mondo and Queen Machina regarding Staroid. |
Staroid is the Starfish-themed monster of the Machine Empire working under King Mondo and the titular main antagonist of the Power Rangers Zeo episode "The Shooting Star."
He is voiced by Derek Stephen Prince who also later voiced the Digster later in Zeo, Elgar in Power Rangers Turbo a year later and Tire Org in Power Rangers Wild Force. However, he is best known as DemiDevimon and Piedmon in the English dub of Digimon Adventure as well as Impmon in Digimon Tamers.
Biography[]
Past[]
Staroid was manufactured by the Machine Empire, working under King Mondo and Queen Machina. With their monsters and never-ending army of Cogs, the Machine Empire was able to devastate and conquer entire galaxies.
Zeo[]
In 1996, King Mondo leads his Machine Empire to the Moon where they drive out Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa but their invasion is ultimately stalled by the interference of the Zeo Rangers.
After King Mondo learns that Zordon is building the Zeozords for the Zeo Rangers, he sends the Cogs to sabotage them but these are destroyed. Before Queen Machina can fret though, King Mondo reveals that he has Staroid as a back-up plan which delights her since he is enjoyably destructive. After Klank announces that his upgrades to Staroid's weapons have been completed, the monster is sent to wreck Angel Grove and destroy the Zeozords so the Zeo Rangers confront him with the Zeozords in the countryside. Aided by some Quadrafighters, Staroid holds his own against the Zords and even cooks them by turning into a sphere and catching fire. However, he is defeated when the Zeo Rangers form the Zeo Megazord and he loses his balance. Staroid then fights the Megazord but is knocked down before they summon the Zeo Megazord Saber. He charges only to be destroyed by a single slash from the Saber but he begins reforming using the metal sphere. However, they then destroy Staroid for good by cutting the sphere apart with the Zeo Megazord Saber finisher.
Legacy[]
Despite his death, the gigantic Staroid inspired King Mondo to start enlarging his monsters. To this effect, he upgraded Klank and Orbus with a growth program that was first used to enlarge Silo.
“ | Sprocket: I really hate those lousy Power Rangers! Look at what they've done this time! Mommy, they've ruined my favourite creation! Machina: There, there my dear. Don't blame yourself. You mustn't take it personally. They have ruined all our creations. |

Personality[]
Staroid is an arrogant and violent creature who enjoyed gloating and torturing his enemies with heat. Staroid is so brutal and efficient that King Mondo and Queen Machina demonstrate great pride in him with the latter immediately cheering up when Mondo mentions using the monster.
