Welcome to a new age of Deception aerial superiority! As your commander, we will champion the heavens, we will strike down every Autobot on sight!
~ Starscream upon being promoted by Megatron.

Starscream is a major antagonist in the Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, serving as one of the two secondary antagonists (along with Shockwave) of Siege, the secondary antagonist of Earthrise and a major character in Kingdom.

Initially a Seeker with great ambitions, Starscream shared a rivalry with his commander, Jetfire, and would supplant him as leader of the Seekers. A Deception proud of his warrior heritage, Starscream also plots to take full control of the Decepticons.

He was voiced by Frank Todaro, who previously voiced Starscream in the Prime Wars Trilogy, as well as Russell Barnaby in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Personality[]

You want to know the future? Fine. I have heard the legends of Air Commander Starscream. I heard you were a coward! An arrogant, backstabbing, incompetent coward. You will never rule. You will never.
~ Blackarachnia about Starscream's future.

Starscream is very arrogant, swagger, deceitful, sometime coward and ready to use any deception to achieve his ends. Like many of his past incarnations, he covets the top, first the command of the Seekers then the title of leader of the Decepticons or even king.

Apart from Megatron, Starscream fears no one, as he did not hesitate to threaten to kill Jetfire if he had been the commander at the time and preferring to also execute the looters than just the Autobots. He also turns out to be manipulative enough to push his allies to rally to him instead of Megatron, at least until his tentaves all fail.

Ironically, Starscream can prove to be paranoid and a bad teammate, overtaking Blackarachnia when he's suspicious of her and quickly arguing with Dinobot for making fun of his supposed fate.

Since meeting Unicron, Starscream has started to act more troubled and to the point of choosing to side with his enemies while letting go of his dreams of greatness. He also no longer feared Megatron and first tried to prevent him from carrying out Unicron's plans and then later tried to convince him to turn away from Galvatron's path.

Biography[]

Siege[]

StarscreamWFCSiege

Starscream was a Seeker under the command of Jetfire. After capturing the Autobot Wheeljack and the Energon scout Bumblebee, Starscream was eager to attack them, but Jetfire put him in his place for overstepping his authority by slicing off his arm. Starscream accused Jetfire of weakness before their enemies and turned the other Seekers against him. After Megatron dispersed the fighting, and seemed to consider letting their prisoners go, Starscream persuaded him to execute them instead. After the Autobots escaped, at a Decepticon rally, Starscream and Jetfire argued on how best to deal with the Autobots.

When the hooded Ultra Magnus turned up at Decepticon HQ, Starscream and Jetfire jostled for the opportunity of dealing with the potential threat. When Megatron announced his plan to use the Allspark to reformat the Autobots into Decepticons, Starscream aired his grievances about this to his fellow Seekers in a courtyard before Jetfire arrived and sent him on patrol. While on patrol, the fatally wounded Skywarp encountered Starscream and told him that Jetfire had betrayed the Decepticons.

Armed with this information Starscream and the other Seekers confronted Jetfire at Tarn-Hauser Gate. After blasting him for killing Skywarp, Starscream revealed Jetfire's treachery. Megatron then ordered Jetfire's destruction for the betrayal. Starscream and the Seekers engaged in a dogfight with their former commander, managing to down him, but Jetfire managed to evade them for long enough to escape. Despite this, Starscream promised that Jetfire was dead, and Megatron promoted him to Commander of the Seekers.

Soon afterwards, Starscream was reporting to Megatron on the Seekers' observations of Autobot activity near the disused Space Bridge when Shockwave and Soundwave announced that Autobot Command had been located. In the final battle, Starscream found Jetfire was alive and had defected, and duelled the traitor. However, he recieved orders to focus destroy the Space Bridge, and reluctantly led his troops in began an aerial aasault on Sector Seven, where Impactor was killed, before Omega Supreme arrived to fight off the Decepticons.

Earthrise[]

With the Allspark out of Cybertron, the Decepticons set out to drain their own troops' energon for the mysterious Nemesis Project. For its part, Starscream designs a trap with the remains of Steeljaw and the support of Thundercraker aimed at luring the Autobots to the detention center. As he had anticipated, the Elita-One team is captured trying to rescue the so-called prisoner and brought in front of Megatron, whom Starscream asks to perform JetFire but does not get that pleasure. However, renegade Decepticons free the Autobots, forcing Megatron to immediately get the project going: a gigantic ship named Nemesis powered by Cybertronian sparks to find the Allspark.

Traveling through space, the Decepticons quickly track down Optimus Prime's team aboard a star station located in an active space bridge. While infiltrating it, they also find themselves facing off against Scorponok until a grenade explodes. Awakened by Ravage, Starscream assumes that Megatron perished in the rubble and claims the title of leader of the Decepticons for himself with the goal of wiping out the remaining Autobots and bringing the Allspark back to Cybertron. His next ambush is interrupted by Megatron and Optimus still proving alive. In an attempt to hold onto his position, Starscream accuses an injured Megatron of rallying to the Autobots only to be shot by Megatron and fallen into the core of the station. Survivor, he returns to the Nemesis to set fire to the station, hoping to get rid of all his enemies but only succeeds in the end by sending L'Arche through the Dead Universe.

Following this, Megatron furiously confronts the leader of the Seekers and pummels him by calling him a coward for his treachery before angrily dismissing him and entering through the rift of the Dead Universe to come out later. Arrived in orbit of the Earth, the two spaceships collide. The Decepticons then invade the Ark control room but are ambushed by the Autobots, Starscream being overpowered by Arcee. However, a Deseeus-controlled Doubledealer in turn emerges and attacks both ships, forcing Starscream and Bumblebee to hastily strike an alliance to reactivate the weaponry. Deseeus is finally defeated, but the explosion of the mercenary ship drags the Ark and the Nemesis back to Earth.

Kingdom[]

Following the crash landing on earth, the Decepticons soon meet their descendant from the future, the Predacons. After listening to Megatron II explained to have come at this time to give his ancestor a mysterious gold record, Starscream is ordered to leave the room by his master. He finds himself briefly alone with Dinobot and vainly asks him if he has heard of him in the future, only for the Predacon to answer no. Annoyed, the arrogant Decepticon claims it will come one day. Complaining about his situation while walking in the Nemesis, Starscream meets Blackarachnia who offers him an alliance to gain power and oust the two Megatrons. Dinobot quickly suspects their scheming but chooses instead to join them because he don't supports more the madness of his leader.

While quietly following Megatron down the track at AllSpark, the trio soon enter an artefact infested area, causing hallucinations. Starscream sees a crown which he sees as his accomplished destiny as leader of the Decépticons. Tensions quickly become critical between the two second-in-command when the Predacon laughs at the Decepticon dream and it turns into provocation and intimidation. Starscream then claims to have survived millions of years of tyranny and suffering, only so that Dinobot does not accuse him of using his suffering as a pretext for his selfishness and his absurd desire to be a king. Eventually exasperated, Starscream furiously throws Dinobot off the top of a cliff. Shortly after Dinobot's death at the hands of Megatron II, Starscream and Blackaragnia spot the light of the Matrix showing the temple at Allspark.

Urged by the Spider to use force rather than his cowardly cunning, Starscream approaches the two Megatrons in stealth mode but the Decepticon leader sees him coming thanks to the disc and shoots him down but lets him live while snatching his device from him. camouflage. Later, Starscream watches her wounded master once again confronting the Autobots and Maximals until Blackarachnia finishes a reproduction of a drive to play the record she had stealthily stolen from Megatron while taking some from it. energon while he fought with Starscream, which pissed off Starscream. The outrage quickly turns to betrayal paranoia, prompting Starscream to keep the reader to himself and run away. Once alone, he accesses Megatron's future memory, discovering the dark fate to come as well as the enslavement of Megatron by Unicron which will eventually cause him to become Galvatron. At first amused by the prospect of Megatron dying as a vulgar slave, Starscream is suddenly contacted telepathically by Unicron himself. Blackarachnia ends up joining the scene while revealing that in the future Starscream remained an incompetent coward who never reigned, fair to discover Starscream seemingly traumatized by his encounter with Unicron.

The next day, a completely distraught and on the verge of insanity Starscream approaches Bumblebee in an attempt to warn him of Unicron's threat by handing him the gold disc just for the Autobot to destroy him on the spot, claiming he must face the future. The Nemesis then attacks the Autobot ship, weakening their shield at a critical point. When Megatron tries to finish the job with his own energon blasts, Starscream steps in to try to warn him of what will happen to him in the future but to no avail before being caught by the corge. Megatron then calls him a useless incompetent, only for Starscream to reply that he at least can fly, freeing himself from Megatron's grip and then crashes into him in vehicle mode to knock him down from Nemesis. Ultimately, the Nemesis is destroyed and the Decepticons and Predacons are captured but Stascream's madness continues to worsen to the point that Hound and Blackarachnia are forced to lock him into stasis.

Returning to Cybertron, Starscream joins the Decepticons, Autobots, Maximals and Predacons in the final fight against Galvatron and Nemesis Prime with the AllSpark at stake. He manages to convince Megatron to turn away from Galvatron by doing as the once treacherous Decepticon did: Join the enemy camp to fight for a better world. The two Unicron slaves are finally wiped out when the AllSpark becomes one with Cybertron again, finally ending the war. The Decepticons and the Predacons decide to go on a new horizon with Starscream continuing to hear Unicron and feeling his anger but Blackarachnia assures him that when he comes, they will be ready.

Blackarachnia: There's always the third option.
Starscream: Third option?
Blackarachnia: I know something of history something of you, Starscream. You always waited for someone else to take Megatron off the board. So, when they were unsuccessful, you were, too.

Starscream: His Energon? Did... Did you...Did you take that while he was attacking me? Is that why you...you tricked me into fighting?
Blackarachnia: Calm down. You lived, didn't you? [Feeling betrayed, Starscream nearly shoots down Blackarachnia, steals the synthetic gauntlet and flies away] Starscream!
Starscream: Play, dammit! Your secrets are mine, you piece of scrap! [The Golden Disk begins to broadcast the last memories of Megatron in full] Megatron...is...Galvatron? Ha! Oh, Megatron, you were born a slave and you will die a slave. [The Golden Disk starts to shine very bright]

Bumblebee: What's wrong with him?
Blackarachnia: I don't know. He's been acting crazy ever since he listened to that disk.
Starsream: I'm not crazy!. Oh. We don't have much time! He can see us.
Bumblebee: Who?
Starsream: The one who has done this to us. Please, I'm not...I'm not strong enough. He knows that. But you... You and the Autobots! The future belongs in more capable hands. [Bumblebee take the Golden Disk and take a look before break it] NO!!!

Trivia[]

  • The aversion between Starscream and Dinobot is a nod to Beast Wars where unlike WFC, Dinobot knew the history of Stascream and despised him for his deceitful and treacherous nature.
  • Since his traumatic contact with Unicron, Starscream appears to have acquired more heroic traits similar to his Armada counterpart.
  • This Starscream incarnation does not appear to have been a scientist like his G1 counterpart before joining the Decepticons as he mentions his millions of years of abuse. It is likely that he was another Cybertronian living under the corrupt regime of the Quintessons.
