This world rewards the normals. The ones who punch their time cards and go to bed by ten and never question the system. It's the real hell. A beige-colored hell full of fertilized lawns and mortgage payments and social media algorithms. I'm here for the freaks who actually have the power to bring that whole stupid, punishing world crashing down. I get to them before they're indoctrinated and diplomaed and numbed by pharmaceuticals. You used to understand that desire.
~ Skaar stating his overview on modern society and justifying his actions to Talia Warroad before trying to kill her.

Stefan Skaar is the main antagonist of the final issues in the 2022 comic book series, Ghost Rider. He is the leader of the Cult of Mephisto and the ex-boyfriend of Talia Warroad, as well as the one responsible for the death of her parents. Skaar is known for corrupting and brainwashing children on his behalf, killing their parents and other adults country-wide to expand the cult's membership.

Personality[]

Skaar is downright vile and a devious manipulator whose entirely devoted to spread Mephisto's influence on his behalf, targeting children as easy prey and corrupting them otherwise. He garners a rebellious outlook on life and often or not portrays in such a state to earn rebellious teen's trust and admiration for him, which worked for Talia. Skaar also has a deranged overview on the adults, saying they are trapped in their own imprisonment and usually uses his magic to toy with them sadistically, even going as far as to have children he took under his wing to kill their own parents just to further cement their status as members of Mephisto's cult and cut any ties with their loved ones spitefully. This was even coupled with his philosophical view on society, believing that the everyday basis in life is boring and he was given the power to punish the world just for that.

He's seemingly knowledgeable over the dark magic capabilities he's known and was able to teach Talia a few spells she managed to decipher right. He also seems to get along well with his gang and oftentimes showed affection to Talia, praising her intellect and "comforting" her when she grieved her parents which he caused, however, he was more obsessed with keeping her all to himself and his relationship with his gang comes off being conditional as he easily replaces them with few grunts after they were sent to a juvenile center. While a follower of Mephisto's, Skaar's loyalty to him is questionable since the beginning and by the moment he brings up his powers being used for his self-appointed overview than it is to serve Mephisto meant he's only in it for power. Despite what he's capable of, Skaar's proven to be a coward, as he tries to plead Talia into saving him without knowing she's the one drowning him and when he is damned to hell, he screams in fear.

Biography[]

Much of Skaar's past remains unclear, though from one point he eventually heard of Mephisto and practiced the arts of dark magic, granting him exceptional abilities and forming Mephisto's cult in his name. It was said that Skaar targets children and adolescents, manipulating them into giving into their darkest thoughts and brainwash them to becoming potential members for Mephisto's cult, having them kill all adults - including their parents - and later have them sacrificed. Skaar eventually was accompanied by two like-minded delinquents where they got about committing felonies and recklessly driving every night.

On one night where he and his gang were robbing an ATM machine using dark magic, he came across meeting Talia Warroad that night, and eventually gained interest over her. From there, he and his pals have Talia tag along with them as they rode off with the money they stole and showing her the ropes of his specific kind of dark magic. Loitering and partying at the beach, Skaar demonstrates casting a pyrokinetic spell that shows faces of demons within a bursting fire before he states to Talia that she won't be able to manage handling this kind of magic without letting herself go crazy. They'd eventually be found out by the police who were patrolling at that time, which Skaar and his gang tried justifying that they were on a "picnic" and it wouldn't be long for Skaar to toy with the officers in question, magically but grotesquely shifting their eyeballs into pairs of screaming mouths for a moment as they make their quick getaway, leaving Talia behind. Fortunately, he left a dollar piece with a drawn message for Talia, saying "Pay me a visit".

Talia eventually meets up with Skaar and his gang when Doctor Strange was hired by her parents to help her, which she refused, ripping the dollar Skaar gave her in half and activating the spell, transporting her to a voided dimension where she stood before Skaar and his gang, expecting she'd used the spell. As Skaar officially have Talia join their gang, they'd begun stirring trouble wherever they go. Upon manipulating her and teaching her the aspects of his satanic spells and rituals, he taught Talia a spell that'll place a curse onto her parents and kill them as she desired due to her dysfunctional relationship with them without her realizing it was already too late. One night, Skaar and his gang, alongside Talia, rode off in an open highway, recklessly driving and causing a series of incidents as he brings up about breaking the rules and the laws, which in an instance, he and Talia rode off a car to the edge of the bridge, earning Talia's concern. Stopping in the heat of the moment when a truck almost ran them over, Skaar teleported himself and Talia away at the critical moment and reassures that the man's death was nothing, stating that all adults are living in a "doomed prison" while he and his gang knew "a way out" of it.

At another night at the beach, Skaar and his gang started partying again while he continued teaching various spells to Talia, ones that make people sick ones that cause death, which the latter gets correct and receives a kiss from the former as a reward before driving off somewhere. Meanwhile, the curse continues to spread around Talia's parents as two corpse versions of them attack them while rebuking how they hated her while Doctor Strange tried his best to protect them as they got off by car. Unfortunately, Talia's parents met their demise via a car accident on the same time as Skaar and Talia drove, which the latter notices their car being put out by firefighters when it was on fire, grieving the loss of her parents while Skaar comforts Talia, unbeknownst of his vile stare of knowing exactly what he made her do with the car clearing up to reveal a symbol of that belonging to a death spell he taught Talia earlier, which Strange confirmed he caused the incident.

Hosting a party at the beach once more, Skaar tries to comfort Talia by saying a majority of people's parents die and that she'll heal, saying she's got a "new family" in him and his gang until Doctor Strange crashes the party and reveals the truth to Talia, immediately sending all of Skaar's gang to a juvenile detention center for crimes like vandalism and robbery. Skaar prepares to attack Strange until the latter drowns him in the sand, which he pleads Talia for help, saying he'll give her any power or grant her desire, now rendered futile after Talia understood what he's done and prepares to cast a spell to damn his soul as revenge. Stranger, however, prevents Talia from damning Skaar to hell, saying she'll only become just like him and offered her a place in teaching her, which she refused and followed down her own path instead. Skaar, on the other hand, survived the incident but was locked away in Strange's Dungeon Dimension, unfortunately, he was able to pick a lock and escape with Strange ever knowing, now he is hellbent on seeking revenge against Talia and continued doing his dirty work as Mephisto's cultist, manipulating and brainwashing as many children across the country. It was eventually revealed he ran a boarding school in Colorado, disguised as an indoctrination camp for trouble juvenile delinquents to mold into Mephisto's loyalists, having them brainwashed and taught pain as their signature education, demonic arcana, and literal "blood sport" with stitched heads to improvise their bloodthirsty and violent impulses. He even has a room full of skeletons of past victims of the very mass murders and chaos he had his children do.

Years later, Skaar would go onto manipulating children into becoming homicidal cultists whose loyalty is forcibly tribute for Mephisto and his name, he would eventually brainwashed hundreds of children in West Virginia as one of the first, causing a bloody rampage where the children go on killing every last adult in the town's populace, including their own parents, and have their corpses drop into a pit in a ritual sacrifice, all taken place in a mining area. At the same time, part of the children's consciousness has awareness upon being controlled by Skaar's influence and come to show regret and anguish of their actions and their losses. When Talia senses Skaar's presence, she and Johnny would head onto West Virginia to investigate the matter, and making their arrival they find themselves in the town of Burrow, where at firsthand witnessed an old man warning them of the children's attacks before he was gruesomely killed by them with a pickaxe shove from the back of his head to his mouth as his body is taken to the pit to be sacrificed. Sooner or later the Ghost Rider and Talia tracked down the children within the mining area before they encountered one of them. Talia would eventually get through the child and comfort him once he grieved over his horrible actions he was forced to commit.

Entering the mining area, one of the child miners would try to sacrifice one of their own should the Ghost Rider or Talia make one more step before accidentally falling off the pit. Ghost Rider manages to save one of them but the other refused, falling to his death to join Mephisto, while Talia evacuated the children for the Ghost Rider to seize the ritual and put an end to one of Skaar's sectors but the children are left traumatized by their own actions. Throughout traveling across the country, the Ghost Rider and Talia would deal with a number of brainwashed children, some even transformed or empowered by Skaar's magic and influence, while preventing them from further attacking the adults, such as the time with several victims tied to a roller coaster, dealing with werewolf children at a camp ground, and dealing with vampire children at the mall where they massacred the adults. Meanwhile, Skaar and his lackey picked up another juvenile delinquent who was in trouble for use of drugs and vandalism in disguise.

Reaching to Colorado, the Ghost Rider and Talia would engage in a sexual ritual that created their Moon Child when a Blood Wall blocked their way, and soon have the Moon Child infiltrate the school where Talia would foresee the ongoing sessions of the brainwashed children. Unfortunately, they would get caught by Warding Tree Guardians, a spell that required the sacrifice of several innocents, which dozens of bodies created dozens of guardians as they begin attacking the Ghost Rider and Talia, meanwhile, the Moon Child ends up in the palms of Skaar inside his room via following a black-colored balloon. However, Ghost Rider manages to fend off the Warding Tree Guardians using a chainsaw as he and Talia raided the school inside. While the Ghost Rider handles dealing with the children and cleansed them of Skaar's influence later on, Talia would confront Skaar after years, holding the Moon Child in his arms.

Skaar would explain how he escaped Stranger's imprisonment over him and mentioned how he and Talia's child would've looked like, only to dismiss it since he believed producing a Moon Child was all she could do for him. He then has the Moon Child use the black balloon to explode right into Talia's face, infecting her with poisonous smoke while Skaar began to monologue his outlook on society and how he has been giving power to the children he manipulated upon claiming to be the one "helping them out" from adulthood, not before finishing his statement and prepares to kill Talia on the very spot. Unfortunately, he eventually meets his end when Talia creates a ritual circle that damned both him and her into hell, with her past finally catching up with her as she is sealed away alongside her ex-boyfriend, leaving Johnny all by himself once more.
