Biography[]

In the past, Steppenwolf served Darkseid in Apokolips until he left to work as the top combatant for Mongal in War World. He fought numerous enemies for a long time and always came out victorious. During his battles on War World, he was responsible for killing many of his opponents and have grown to become very arrogant over his constant victories.

The day Batman and other individuals were forced to fight Steppenwolf in the gladiator arena, he boasts about how strong he was to his opponents before fighting them by himself. During the fight, Batman notes Steppenwolf's arrogance. The men who were allied with Batman decided to save themselves and run from the battle leaving Batman alone to fight Steppenwolf. As the fighting continues, Batman is assisted by Jonah Hex and together they were able to defeat Steppenwolf.

After the events of gladiator battles, Steppenwolf and Mongul appeared on Earth with Mongul's Warmoon near the planet. Mongul created the racetrack and forced the world's superheroes and supervillains into the competition. As Steppenwolf appears, Mongul states that if Steppenwolf gets past the finish line, Mongul will destroy the Earth with Warmoon, but if all others succeed then Mongul will make the winner the ruler of Earth. Throughout the race, Steppenwolf manages to stay on track as all the other competitors eliminated. Towards the end of the race, Steppenwolf and Batman got into a fight as they each try to eliminate one another from the competition to get to the finish line. Despite Steppenwolf's efforts, Batman and Huntress manage to make to the finish line before Steppenwolf because Batman managed to make Steppenwolf's vehicle crash. After the competition, Mongul acknowledges Batman as the winner of the competition and shoots Steppenwolf with an energy beam.
