Steve Sellers is one of the final antagonists in The Mentalist TV-show. He is one of the members in the criminal gang, who is searched by the police. He is played by William Gregory Lee.

Biography[]

The episode begins with three robbers robbing a bank. The police arrive at the crime scene. Police consultant Patrick Jane immediately guesses that there was a tipster among the bank employees and immediately figures out who exactly it was. However, the tipster himself cannot help. He did not personally meet the robbers. It soon emerges that there have been similar robberies before, but then there were two robbers (and judging by the robbers' behavior on the camera recordings, it is clear that one of them is new to the gang). Studying the camera recordings, Patrick notices that two of the robbers are limping strangely. He realizes that each of them has one leg longer than the other. This anomaly is rare, which means there is a possibility that these two robbers are brothers. Police officer Kimball Cho and his trainee Michelle Vega inspect the places where the robbers could have met the tipster. In one of them, Michelle notices two guys with one leg shorter than the other each and shows them to Kimball. He approaches the guys and demands that they go with him, and also hand over the accomplice. But at that moment the accomplice himself appears and opens a shootout. Michelle stays to stop him, and Kimball pursues the others and wounds one. He also gets into their driving away car. But Michelle is wounded in the stomach. Kimball, who arrives in time, demands that random witnesses call an ambulance, but Michelle dies in the hospital, which causes sadness and anger of the entire investigation team (and especially Jason Wiley, who was dating her). Soon the names of the robbers are calculated. Their names are Steve Sellers, Tommy Brunell and his brother Aaron, nicknamed Ace. Vega was killed by Sellers. The criminal wounded by Kimball was Tommy. However, the FBI cannot investigate this case due to the death of its employee, so this case is transferred to another department. However, the FBI is allowed to participate in the capture of criminals. On Patrick's advice, the police control all the pharmacies to figure out where they will go to get Tommy's medicine. However, during the pursuit, one of the policemen foolishly turns on the flashing light. The criminals take a passerby hostage and take her to her home. The police suggest storming the house, Patrick suggests that they pit the criminals against each other. For example, they will bring them food (which they will put bugs in), but not medicine. Since Tommy is wounded, and Aaron is clearly attached to his brother, they will quarrel (which happens). Patrick decides to add fuel to the fire and say that "the man who asked not to be named" is negotiating with the police (meaning that one of the robbers betrayed his accomplices and wants to hand them over). Aaron thinks that Sellers is the traitor, and Sellers thinks it's Aaron. Then Patrick exchanges himself for the nephew of the woman captured by the criminals and makes the woman think that she is feeling worse than she actually is. The woman panics and Aaron takes her out. Patrick tells Sellers that $800,000 was stolen (while $600,000 was stolen). Sellers thinks that Aaron robbed him. Hearing Patrick's words through a listening device, the police decide to give information that $800,000 was stolen, not $600,000. This finally convinces Sellers that Aaron robbed him. Sellers kills Aaron. At this moment, Kimball bursts in and kills Sellers himself.

Personality[]

Sellers can be called the most brutal of the gang. Police officers say that he has a huge list of serious crimes (and he clearly gets a kick out of it). He clearly does not regret the murder he committed. Unlike the Brunells, he does not care about his accomplices and is even ready to kill them if necessary.
