Steve Walker is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Crush". He was a high school athlete and the violent abuser of his ex-girlfriend, Kim Garnet.
He was portrayed by Alexander Nifong.
Biography[]
Past[]
Walker was a swimmer for his and Kim's high school, as well as her boyfriend. An acting student, Ethan Morse, was secretly in love with her, but Kim politely declined his affections due to her present relationship. What most people didn't know, except for Ezra, was Walker was constantly brutalizing Garnet. It started when he slapped her at a party for spilling punch on his new shirt. After beating her for speaking with another boy, Walker would continuously punch and kick Kim on a regular basis, isolating her from everyone she knew and threatening to kill her if she told.
Walker also sexually extorted Kim into sending scanty photos of herself for him. One day, she accidentally sent it to Ethan, which he interpreted was her returning the feelings he had for her. Kim spoke with Ethan and convinced him it was a mistake, Ethan respecting that in spite of being rejected again. Walker stalked Kim to Ethan's house and was furious, kicking Kim's head until she passed out. To further destroy her, Walker stole her phone, cloned her number, and leaked the photos to the entire student body of their school.
"Crush"[]
The episode starts with Kim falling down the stairs at school her injuries were found when she was treated at the hospital for the fall. When they understood that the injuries could not have been caused by the fall, Detectives Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson starts an investigation. Walker and Ethan were the prime suspects, and when they saw each other at the precinct with their parents, they fought and pointed the finger at each other. A family court prosecutor, Samantha Copeland, decided to try Kim for child porn distribution to force her to identify Walker in court. Walker violently beat Kim to further scare her into silence, so when she refused to name him on the stand, she was held in contempt of court. When Detective Elliot Stabler's daughter Kathleen visited Kim to tell her she got past her troubled childhood, she convinced Kim to report Walker. Walker was arrested and eventually imprisoned for his crimes.
