Steven "Stevie" Cole is one of the supporting antagonists of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes "American Dream" and "Sanctuary".
He was portrayed by Ben Thompson.
Biography[]
Past[]
Cole was a mechanic, who seemingly got along with his coworkers.
However, Cole was a racist who believed that immigrants and minorities were ruining "his" country. He sought to get revenge on them and shared his belief on a white supremacist chat room. During this time, he befriended fellow racist Mitchell Jenkins, who blamed Muslims for 9/11 because a relative was killed in the attacks.
"American Dream"[]
He and Jenkins broke into a Muslim family restaurant after getting Hector Ramirez, a former employee to help them by giving easy access to the building.
They proceeded to torture the family by raping the daughters and beating the parents, while threatening Ramirez when he tried to stop them.
"Sanctuary"[]
The NYPD's Special Victims Unit arrests Ramirez and gets him to cooperate with them, causing him to give up Cole and Jenkins. Cole was found at work, with his coworkers initially defending him but backed down when they heard that he was involved in a double murder investigation and directed the cops to him. Cole was promptly arrested.
When brought in, he denied the accusations, but revealed his racism by calling Ramirez a "wetback". Much later, one of his high school friends shoots Hector after being inspired by Cole's racism that led to his arrest once he was tackled.
Cole and Jenkins would go to court, where he was horrified to be exposed after Jenkins' wife incriminates him.
He would ultimately be incarcerated for life for hate crimes, rape, and murder.
