Stomponadon

Stomponadon is a minor antagonist appearing in the video game Banjo-Tooie. It is a gargantuan dinosaur patrolling the Stomping Plains of Terrydactyland, the fifth world of the Isle O' Hags.

Unlike other dinosaurs encountered here, Stomponadon can never be seen fully. Only its enormous foot is visible. Due to its penchant for trampling adventurers, Stomponadon is nicknamed the "Triassic Steamroller".

Biography

Stomponadon attempts to crush anyone that enters its territory beneath its colossal clawed foot. As several collectibles are located at the far end of its domain, Banjo and Kazooie must navigate the Stomping Plains while avoiding certain doom under Stomponadon's mighty step.

Upon their entrance, Stomponadon slams its foot down with a loud roar, warning the bear and bird of what awaits them. It proceeds to attack them as they venture across the plains. Being caught beneath Stomponadon's heavy stomp results in the loss of all but one Honeycomb (life energy). Another step after this proves lethal. To avoid being crushed, the duo must take cover in areas Stomponadon cannot reach. These include the main entrance, the end of the plains, and within its own deep footprints which dot the path.

Eventually, Banjo and Kazooie manage to cross the Stomping Plains and survive Stomponadon's assault. After acquiring various collectibles, the two can follow a second pathway back to the entrance which bypasses the hazardous landscape. Though Stomponadon's fate following this encounter is unknown, it is likely still alive, pulverizing any intruder who dares to enter its lair.

• Stomponadon is the largest enemy Banjo and Kazooie encounter, as only its foot and leg are visible. When viewing Stomponadon's attack in first-person, its foot can be seen descending from above the clouds.
• Stomponadon is one of the few enemies in Banjo-Tooie that cannot be harmed or killed by any means.
• Stomponadon is one of the few enemies for whom the boss entrance theme plays, despite it not actually being a boss character.
• Stomponadon is identified as female in-game by Gruntilda, though the official Nintendo Power Guide refers to her with male pronouns.
