Stone is a supporting antagonist in the 1994 film On Deadly Ground.

He was portrayed by the late R. Lee Ermey, who also portrayed Charlie Hewitt Jr in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Sheriff Warren Pike in Life, Mr. Frank Martin in Willard, and John House in House M.D.

Film[]

He is the leader of a group of mercenaries hired by Michael Jennings to find and kill the film's main protagonist, Forrest Taft (played by Steven Seagal). When Stone and Jennings meet, Jennings tells Stone to let MacGruder tag along. Forrest anticipates the group's arrival and sets numerous booby traps for them, successfully killing several mercenaries and destroying Stone's helicopter. Unlike Jennings and MacGruder, Stone does not personally get involved in the situation. He treats Forrest like he would any other enemy and values the lives of his men. He seems to only be willing to do the job because it's what he's been assigned to do, not because he has any stake in what Jennings wants to accomplish.

At the film's climax, Stone's unit reinforces the Aegis 1 oil rig, but they are again outsmarted and outgunned when Forrest shows up—Forrest slays the mercenaries to the last man. As Forrest rigs Aegis 1 to harmlessly implode, Stone—submerged in oil—sneaks up behind him and gets the drop on him with a shotgun. Having finally caught the bane of his existence, Stone becomes too overconfident and gets close enough for Forrest to turn his shotgun back on him, killing him and falling down the stairs

quotes[]

"Yeah, that's right. Go ahead, Big Boy. Make your move. And I'm gonna shove this goddamn shotgun up your ass and blow the top of your fucking head off."

Stone's last words as he confronts Taft, before he gets killed with his own shotgun.
