Storm Cloud is a minor antagonist in the Transformers franchise. The original version was based on a figure from the 1988 toyline.

Generation One[]

Marvel Comics[]

Storm Cloud was first seen in Marvel UK's pre-movie timeline, in "Aspects of Evil", where he and the rest of the Air Strike Patrol were involved in a Decepticon civil war in 1991. They attacked Scorponok, but when the Autobots Hot Rod, Landfill and Quickmix arrived, Scorponok manipulated the situation so they were compelled to fight the Air Strike Patrol for him.

Storm Cloud's first present day appearance was in "A Small War", where he was one of the first Decepticon Micromasters created by Thunderwing on Cybertron. He and the rest of the Air Strike Patrol were deployed to deal with a group of Autobot Micromasters breaking into the base to recover the captured Battle Patrol. Roadhandler tricked them into believing a bomb he'd dropped was active and the Autobots took the opportunity to overpower them.

In his first Marvel US appearance in Issue #55, Storm Cloud arrived on Earth with the rest of the Air Strike Patrol in response to Scorponok's request for reinforcements. With Roadhandler gaining much good publicity for the Autobots during a career as a wrestler, Storm Cloud challenged him to a bout. In order to make sure Roadhandler lost, the rest of the Air Strike Patrol threatened the humans he had befriended. However, when Tailspin and Highjump took the humans to safety, Roadhandler turned round and defeated Storm Cloud, who fled with Lord Zarak as a passenger.

This led into the following storyline, where Storm Cloud and the rest of the Air Strike Patrol raided the MacDill Air Force Base. Eager to stake a claim to replace Whisper as team leader, Storm Cloud took charge of threatening the base personnel into turning over an experimental aircraft. When the Autobots arrived, Storm Cloud shot out Optimus Prime's radio to stop him receiving news from the Ark, which had been infiltrated by the Sports Car Patrol. Scorponok then arrived with reinforcements to rescue the Air Strike Patrol, which was exactly what they had planned: They were actually working for Megatron to bring the two groups into conflict. The Air Strike Patrol fled the scene although Megatron's plan fell apart soon after.

In "The Greatest Gift of All", Storm Cloud, with Nightflight and Tailwind, came to Whisper's rescue when he was cornered by the Rescue Patrol. He made his last appearance in US Issue #68 where he and the others raided an oil refinery only for it to be defended by human mutant Hector Dialonzo, who quickly took out Tailwind. Storm Cloud was in the middle of issuing threats of retribution when Hector deactivated him as well.
