Sturm is a minor antagonist in Resident Evil Village. He is a Soldat created by Lord Heisenberg that would be used to try and kill Ethan Winters.
Biography[]
Sturm was one of the many individuals experimented on by Heisenberg and turned into a Soldat. Unlike the others, Sturm had a large propeller engine grafted onto its upper body as its primary weapon. As some point, Sturm accidentally cut its own arms off with its turbine. It was also considered a complete failure by its master Heisenberg for its low intelligence, and would go on to act as a guard of sorts for Heisenberg's factory.
When Ethan Winters refused Heisenberg's offer to join his rebellion against Mother Miranda, Heisenberg sends him falling into a lower part of his factory before letting Sturm loose, and the monstrous Soldat would begin to chase Ethan around the factory, catching up to Ethan a few times before their actual boss fight. During their battle, when Ethan causes enough damage to a vent in Sturm's back, it would catch fire, allowing Sturm the ability to blow flames at Ethan. Ethan eventually manages to defeat Sturm, causing it to calcify and then explode, leaving behind its heart.
Trivia[]
- "Sturm" is German for "storm" or "strong wind", which refers to his propeller, as propellers are known for causing strong winds when used.
- The concept art of Sturm, provided by the game developers, revealed that it was originally supposed to be Heisenberg's biological father. This idea was later scrapped.
- Following the release of Resident Evil Village, Sturm became the subject of controversy, as it bears a strong resemblance to Propeller Head from the 2013 film Frankenstein's Army. Richard Raaphorst, the director of the film, accused Capcom, the creator of the Resident Evil franchise, of stealing his design.
