| ~ Sula describes their work under Steel Seer Zi to Hornet. |
Sula is a minor antagonist in the 2025 indie Metroidvania video game Hollow Knight: Silksong
They are the vassal of Steel Seer Zi, tasked by their Masters to observe Pharloom's occurrences. Driven to their limits from all the death and despair they witnessed, Sula attempts to escape their duty by summoning the Void as the Summoned Savior to protect themself from the masters, forcing Hornet to stop them.
Appearance[]
Sula is a gray 8-legged insect. Most of their body is covered with a brown hood, revealing two white eyes.
Biography[]
Background[]
Before the events of Silksong, Sula served as a vassal of Steel Seer Zi to the Masters, with Sula's job being to observe the deaths of Pharloom without intervening without the order of their superiors, which drove Sula to the limit, escaping from Zi and fleeing to Moss Grotto to summon the Void, which presumably according to Sula themself, would defend them from the wrath of their superiors.
Hollow Knight: Silksong[]
Act II/III[]
Sula can be found by accepting the Steel Souls-exclusive quest A Vassal Lost. Hornet encounters Zi, who tasks her with finding her vassal. She follows the remains of Sula's test rituals and eventually finds them within a room in Bonegrave. Hornet tries to stop Sula from summoning the Void but is too late as they bring forth the Summoned Saviour, which attacks her. Hornet defeats the creature and scolds them for their rashness, warning that the Summoned Saviour would have certainly spelt their doom. Sula laments their duty and asks if Hornet will take them back to Zi, but as she sympathises with their plight, she lets Sula go. Hornet does tell Zi about her decision and while Zi respects it and doesn't pursue Sula, she expresses her concern that they will now be hunted down by the Masters and severely punished, both for summoning the Void for their own gains and abandoning their duty.
Trivia[]
- Sula can be found and the Summoned Saviour can be fought in both Act II and Act III, though Sula has no significant dialogue changes.
- Sula seem to be of the same species as Confessor Jiji due to their similar design, knowledge of how to summon the Void, and apparent servitude to the same masters.
