Sun Tzu Wang (spelt Sun Zi Wang and also known as the Tiger King in the Aeon Genesis translation) is a minor antagonist from the Imperial China chapter of Live A Live. He is a ruffian who, along with his other fellow ruffians, terrorizes people in towns, mugging and stealing stuff. He also forced innocent Yun Jou to steal from innocents, using intimidation to force him to comply. Eventually, he becomes the disciple of the Indomitable Fist and indirectly becomes the catalyst of Earthen Heart Shifu's greatest tragedy.
He was voiced by Hayato Horiuchi in Japanese and Mark Lee in English.
Biography[]
The Successor[]
Sun Tzu Wang was first encountered when the Earthen Heart Shifu visits a Wong Village in search for students to pass the knowledge of his art to. With his strength and ferocity, he and his fellow ruffians forced innocent Yun Jou to steal from innocents, threatening him with violence to keep him in line. However, Yun eventually mustered up enough courage to stand up to himself, telling the ruffians off. Displeased with his disobedience, Sun Tzu Wang demanded that Yun apologizes, lest he loses his temper and attacks him. However, the shifu oversaw the scene and interfered, asking ruffians whether or not they believe themselves to be stronger than Yun. Sun Tzu Wang only laughed at the question, claiming that he's stronger, but the shifu responded that, in truth, Yun is stronger than all of ruffians combined, for the true strength comes from the heart, and defeats Sun Tzu Wang and his ruffians. Realizing who they were dealing with, Sun Tzu Wang cowardly begged shifu for forgiveness and ran away, with his ruffians joining soon after.
However, it won't be the end for Sun Tzu Wang. Once the shifu found and trained all three disciples, a restaraunteur from the Yunfa Market comes to Earthen Heart kung fu school and explains that Sun Tzu Wang and his ruffians were terrorizing the village. Leaving his students to continue their training, the shifu sets off to stop the ruffians once more. At the market, Sun Tzu Wang and his ruffians were stealing food and lusting for women. The shifu arrives and demands that they end their trouble and leave, but Sun Tzu Wang reveals that he learned the teachings of the Indomitable Fist kung fu and tried to use his newfound strength on the shifu, but failed again. Defeated, Sun Tzu Wang tells him that this isn't over and Ou Di Wan Lee will put an end to him and his school before fleeing with his ruffians. Afterwards, he was never seen again in the chapter.
Final Chapter[]
Though the original version of the game did not give him any closure, the remake's true ending credits show Sun Tzu Wang and his ruffians attending the Earthen Heart kung fu school, implying that they decided to let go of their thuggish ways and redeem themselves by learning the more peaceful teachings of their former foes.
