“ | When we've been having our trip sessions, I've been expanding on this one idea in my head. [...] We all grew up watching TV, you know what I mean? And if you grew up watching TV, that means you grew up watching murder. Every show on TV that wasn't I Love Lucy was about murder. So my idea is... we kill the people who taught us to kill. I mean, where the f--k are we, man? We are in f--king Hollywood, man. The people an entire generation grew up watching kill people live here. And they live in pig-sh-t f--king luxury. I say f--k them. I say we cut their c--ks off and make them eat it. | „ |
~ Susan telling Tex, Katie and Flowerchild about her idea to justify their murders. |
Susan Denise Atkins (May 7, 1948 – August 8, 1969), also known as Sadie, is the secondary antagonist in the 2019 comedy-drama film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She is based on the real-life cult member of the same name.
She was portrayed by Mikey Madison, who also played Amber Freeman in Scream (2022).
Biography[]
Past[]
Just like her real-life counterpart, Susan met Charles Manson in 1967 and became a member of his cult, the Manson Family.
Once Upon a Time In Hollywood[]
Sadie first appears in the movie when another member of the Manson Family, Pussycat brings the stunt double of a famous actor, Rick Dalton, Cliff Booth on the cult's headquarters, Spahn Movie Ranch. Later, She is seen when Cliff beats her fellow cult member, Clem, after he refuses to change the tire in Dalton's car that was pierced by him.
On 8th August 1969, Manson sends Sadie alongside three of his other followers (Charles "Tex" Watson, Patricia "Katie" Krenwinkel, and Linda "Flowerchild" Kasabian) to kill all residents of Roman Polanski's house. When Susan and her friends are sitting in a car on Cielo Drive street near Polanski's residence, they are aproched by Rick Dalton (Roman and Sharon's neighbour) who is annoyed by cultist's presence and yells at them which results in to cult members driving off the street. After Tex and Katie recognize Rick from NBC's TV show Bounty Law, Sadie tells them an idea that she once came up with when she was high; to kill Dalton in order to kill the people who "taught them to kill". After that, the cultists decide to change their plan and murder Rick instead of Tate, using Sadie's excuse. On their way to Dalton's house, Flowerchild goes to the cultist's car and drives of, abandoning Sadie, Tex and Katie.
After breaking into Rick's apartment, the remaining cult members find there Cliff who is high on acid and Franceca Capucci, Dalton's wife. Cliff reconizes the cultists and orders his pit bull, Brandy to attack Tex when he is just about to shoot him. Susan charges at Booth but he throws a can of dog food at her, knocking her on the floor as Watson is being bitten by the stuntman's dog. After Cliff kills Katie and Tex, Susan manages to grab Watson's revolver and shoot in the ceiling, scaring Brandy who runs to the bedroom where Fracnesca escaped after Patricia threatened her with a knife. Sadie than flies through the window and falls into the pool oustside, scaring drunk Rick who exits the pool and goes to his tool shed. He comes out with a flamethrower (which is a prop from one of the movies that he starred in) and uses it to burn Atkins alive.
