~ Susan booing Charlie. |
Susan is a minor character in Season 1 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel. She is a elderly Cannibal Sinner demon from Cannibal Town. She can be difficult to be convinced by anything, especially during Charlie's speech to the Cannibal demons.
She is voiced by Kimiko Glenn, who also voiced Lena De Spell in the 2017 DuckTales reboot and a child Dr. Anna Ripley in The Legend of Vox Machina.
Appearance[]
Susan is an thin, aging old woman of short stature, with grayish skin and bony limbs. Adorned in a small maroon-colored 1910s theme hat with dusty blue peacock feathers and garish plumage, Susan also wears a dark blue fox scarf around her neck. As the archetypical old person, she requires spectacles and a walking stick to function in her day-to-day life. Her foul personality and disposition reflects the other stereotypes associated with her old age, like bad posture (she sports a noticeable hunchback), poor vision (squinted black eyes with round dark purple glasses to see better) and an overall lack of enthusiasm towards today's youth (incessant complaints towards Charlie). A long-sleeve 1910s theme long maroon dress she wears plus her short grayish-blonde hair in 1910s bob cut. The only piece of jewelry Susan wears are a pair of dusty blue tear-drop dangle earrings, the same color as her feather plumage on her vintage hat and she is usually seen holding a vintage maroon cigarette holder.
Personality[]
Susan is described by Alastor as an "ornery old b*tch". She is said to be quite hard to convince, as is shown when she ridicules and heckles Charlie's speech, and seems to doubt her as a leader for the cannibals and cannibal town. However, it's shown convincing her is not entirely impossible, as she is shown nodding approvingly during Charlie's musical number to the cannibals.
Biography[]
When Charlie goes to Cannibal Town to recruit Rosie and her fellow cannibals to battle Adam and his army of Exorcists, Rosie mentions one Cannibal is particularly hard to convince, who Alastor states is an "ornery old b*tch" named Susan.
Susan makes her first appearance when she asks Charlie to bring Rosie back upon Rosie referring to Charlie as the new Cannibal leader, much to the chagrin of Charlie, Alastor and Rosie. As Charlie attempts to get the cannibals to listen to her about helping to defeat the Exorcist Angels, Susan relentlessly heckles her until Charlie snaps and cusses her out, causing the other cannibals to stop listening.
Later, after a pep talk from Rosie, Charlie sings to the cannibals that they should protect their people (though they only really come around once Alastor tells them they could eat Angels), and towards the end of the song, Susan is seen giving an approving nod, suggesting she has come around.
Susan partook in battling the Exorcists, though several cannibals are shown to be dead after the battle, so she may have died in battle.
Trivia[]
- Her voice actress, Kimiko Glenn, also voices Niffty in the same series.
- It's currently unclear if Susan survived the Extermination or died in it.
- Susan is the first character in the Hellaverse franchise to have five fingers, while others (especially humans like Adam and Lilith) only have four fingers.
- Susan is, alongside Vox, Lucifer Morningstar and Adam, one of only four characters who Alastor has been shown to hate enough to swear to or about, which says a lot considering how powerful the formers are.
- Susan is from the 1910s.
