Susan Grimshaw is a supporting character of the 2018 western action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption II.
She is the administrator and mother figure of the Van der Linde gang, as well as one of the original members alongside Dutch van der Linde, Hosea Matthews and Arthur Morgan. Despite her ruthlessness, Susan cares about the gang and everything would have fallen apart years ago without her in charge.
She is voiced by Kaili Vernoff.
Biography[]
Little is known about Grimshaw's past except that she was a prostitute and a former lover of Dutch van der Linde. While their relationship ended when Dutch moved on to a woman named Annabelle, Grimshaw remained on good terms with Dutch and remained in his gang.
She served as an overseer, making sure that the gang members are doing work. While most of the men like and respect her, the girls (Mary-Beth Gaskill, Tilly Jackson and Karen Jones) of the camp disdain her as she is verbally and physically abusive towards them whenever she suspects they are neglecting their chores.
When Tilly is kidnapped by the Foreman Brothers, a gang she used to work with, Grimshaw springs into action to save her and rides with Arthur to their hideout. After saving Tilly, she has Arthur capture the gang leader, Anthony Foreman, and then orders Arthur to kill him. Arthur can do so or spare Foreman so that he can warn his gang to back off Tilly. After these events, Tilly begins to like and respect Susan, and the latter will reassure her when Tilly is afraid in Chapter 6.
When the camp relocates to Beaver Hollow, Dutch's lover Molly O'Shea has a mental breakdown over his neglect of her and rants that she betrayed the gang and became an informant to the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Despite Arthur pleading Dutch to spare Molly, Grimshaw shoots Molly in the stomach with a shotgun and orders the body burnt. This exacerbates the friction between the gang and ultimately Mary-Beth, Karen, Uncle and Pearson leave, with only Grimshaw, Dutch, Arthur, John Marston, Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella, Micah Bell, Sadie Adler, Abigail Roberts and Tilly remaining.
After a train heist in which John is seemingly killed, Abigail is kidnapped. While Tilly deserts the camp to look after Jack, Arthur and Sadie rescue Abigail and learn that Micah was the real informant. Sadie and Abigail desert as well and leave to meet Tilly and Jack while Arthur returns to camp and loudly confronts Micah in front of the rest of the gang. Adding to the confusion is John's reappearance as he accuses Dutch of abandoning him.
Grimshaw takes Arthur and John's side, but Micah shoots her in the stomach when she is distracted. She slowly and painfully bleeds out and the rest of the gang turn on Arthur and John. The Pinkertons raid the camp, forcing all the men to flee. Arthur is either killed by Micah or dies from a combination of his wounds, exhaustion and his tuberculosis, while the rest of the men survive and escape.
Grimshaw and Arthur's bodies are later found by Charles Smith and buried. Their deaths are avenged when he, Sadie Adler and John kill Micah years later.

Trivia[]
- If Arthur walks into camp covered in dirt and walks up to Grimshaw, she may scold him and force him to wash his face in a barrel, slapping him when he resists. She is one of the two women in camp who can slap Arthur alongside Sadie Adler, although Sadie is triggered to slap Arthur if antagonized repeatedly while Grimshaw doesn't physically retaliate no matter how many times she is antagonized.
- Grimshaw is one of the three gang members along with Dutch and Micah to address Arthur as "son", which she will may upon greeting him if he returns to camp after a long absence.
- In a camp encounter, Grimshaw can be heard ordering Abigail to prostitute herself again to earn the camp money, to which Abigail vehemently refuses, prompting Grimshaw to storm off ranting about Abigail's ideas above her station. While Grimshaw clearly knows about Abigail's past as a prostitute, whether she had personally pimped Abigail or any of the other girls is unknown.
- Ironically, despite her physical and emotional abuse of the girls, Grimshaw will scold Arthur if he antagonizes the girls in front of her.
