Mommy, Wesley, I never wanted to try out for that sitcom. I was perfectly happy doing summer stock in the Berkshires. But you needed a Lexus! You were my parents. You were supposed to be my biggest fans! And you know what? I don't need you assholes, because I have found my people. And those guys out there? They love me for me! [Shatters the skeletons of his parents] I don't need you! [Regain his composure and dry the tear from his left eye] And that concludes our tour!

Sweet Tooth is the tritagonist of the Peacock series Twisted Metal, based on the video game franchise of the same name.

He is an escaped asylum patient, the man once known as Marcus Kane relished the post-apocalyptic world, becoming one of the most dangerous and notorious individuals in the wastelands. While he has a bloodthirsty habit of ruthlessly attacking anyone in his path, beneath his raging psychosis lies a strangely affable if twisted soul.

He is played by AEW wrestler Samoa Joe and voiced by Will Arnett, who also played Stranz Van Waldenberg in Blades of Glory, Sweet Pete in Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers, Lone Gunslinger in Ice Age: The Meltdown, Vlad Vladikoff in Horton Hears a Who, Mr. Perkins in Despicable Me, the title character in BoJack Horseman and Slade in Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

Sweet Tooth was born Marcus Kane whose parents soon divorced leading to his mother taking custody of him. As a young child he became a small-time actor which he enjoyed until his parents forced him to audition for a sitcom called “Two-Scoops” which he starred in until a new co-host, a dog named Billy, started to become more loved by the audience of "Two Scoops". After an unspecified time of this Marcus' anger got the better of him to the point he killed the dog during a recording in front of the audience with a pair of needles, an event that led to the cancellation of the sitcom and the media nicknaming him "Needles" for his act of brutality. For his extreme act of brutality, extreme anger and to avoid further embarrassment his mother sent Marcus to Blackfield Asylum. Marcus for many years never received a visitation from his family and killed his first cellmate over a disagreement, during this time he decided to take the name Sweet Tooth as his new identity. Eventually as the societal collapse happened he was able to escape Blackfield Asylum and hunt down both his mother and stepfather, for revenge on their abandonment and abuse he took them to his old cell in Blackfield, locking them in it where they would perish. After this he was able to conquer Las Vegas, renaming it "Lost Vegas" where he would try to capture people to entertain leading the city to eventually become evacuated. Due to his murderous tendencies Sweet Tooth became a feared figure where most refuse to come near his territory.

Twisted Metal[]

As John Doe races past Lost Vegas, Sweet Tooth hears his car and decided to see if he'd come to his show only to angrily attack John Doe and his new associate Quiet when they fire at him. As he chases them, he is able to damage John's tires causing them to try to hide, he quickly chases John while taunting his lack of fighting skills outside of his car. Sweet Tooth decides that he would kill John while turning on music, as John starts to sing along with him, he says he will allow John to leave if he stays through the entire show. While getting ready he tries to bond mildly with John, showing him a paper sack, he calls "Harold" who he claims has been his best friend since childhood and reveals the thing he loves most is entertaining people so he can hear them applaud him. Before long Sweet Tooth reveals he captured Quiet who he plans to starve as he has done before with another individual who he caught hiding. While John does convince Sweet Tooth to let Quiet live, he makes it clear neither will leave alive should they try to leave before the show. After serving them a meal made of white tigers and preforming a one-man play reenacting all one can do at the hotel, he demands feedback. As John tries to claim he loves the show, Sweet Tooth decides to kill him for being vague only stopping when Quiet bluntly points out she hated it for being extremely dull. Once John admits the same, Sweet Tooth changes his mind even thanking them while mistaking Quiet's advice as to take the show on the road along with doing what he finds fun. Sweet Tooth soon after decides to let the duo leave while he plans to visit nearby cities, in doing so he killed one guard for refusing to let him in.

After entering one of the cities, Sweet Tooth visits the DMV due to seeing all the guards and people. In an effort to entertain himself he quickly kills every guard he comes across, even killing one by decapitating him in front of the guard's hostages and catching it. As the prisoners applauded Sweet Tooth he takes a moment to show off before freeing them. When one guard-turned-prisoner named Stu starts complementing him, Sweet Tooth tries to bond even offering him candy while saying he sees him as a kindred spirit due to both being bigger individuals. Seeing this as an opportunity, Stu offers to join Sweet Tooth while encouraging Sweet Tooth to free all of Agent Stone's prisoner across the country. As Sweet Tooth looks around, he notices all the former prisoners that he rescued want to follow him, with this he agrees to do so as he believes it will be a way to have a larger audience of "fans". For the next few days, he keeps attacking Agent Stone's bases to recruit more followers who he takes to Blackfield Asylum. There he takes Stu to explain his past and to confront the corpses of his dead mother and stepfather. While he does so Agent Stone has some soldiers, including Stu's friend Mike, kill all his followers and attempt to kill Sweet Tooth. In anger he starts killing the guards while demanding to know who did this. As he starts to strangle Mike, Stu quickly convinces Sweet Tooth that Mike can give them more insight. Still furious but willing to let Mike live as their pet agrees but informs both if Mike doesn't do as told he'll be killed. While stocking up on weapons, when Mike annoys Sweet Tooth, Sweet Tooth sprays Mike with a spray bottle of his urine before demanding he load some missiles as he plans to use them on Agent Stone. As Sweet Tooth chases Agent Stone down, Sweet Tooth decides to dump lighter fluid on his head while telling Stu he wants him to use a lighter on it just for the thrill of it. After he gets his head lit on fire, he sees both John and Quiet who he happily greets, realizing they are here to fight Agent Stone, he tells them that while they can kill the other soldiers, he will be the one to end Stone's life. Mike fearing Sweet Tooth tries to shoot him only to be grabbed, Sweet Tooth then encourages Stu to kill Mike. Stu decides to instead shoot Sweet Tooth in the eye, wounded he soon gets out of his ice cream truck trying to attack Stone. Before Sweet Tooth can do anything, he is accidentally run over by Mike and Stu who have stolen their own vehicle. For their treachery, Sweet Tooth hunts down both Mike and Stu. As they panic Sweet Tooth quickly kills Mike before dragging Stu off to an unspecified but likely painful fate.

Personality[]

Sweet Tooth is depicted as a psychotic and brutal clown who seeks to entertain others but is known to murder those who he feels either don't appreciate his humor or performance. Despite his homicidal tendencies he can be friendly to those who give honest feedback as shown with both John and Quiet after they point out why they hated his one man show, even saying that for that he'll let them leave safely while deciding to now go out and travel around to "entertain" everyone he comes across. Sweet Tooth is shown to make jokes at times to try to get a reaction and simply to lighten the mood of those who he wants to bond with. This version of Sweet Tooth also is shown to be capable of reason, on two separate occasions he is shown to spare lives if asked by someone he likes and provided some reason to as why. That said he is very wrathful and vengeful, should someone betray his trust or he feel disrespected he will quickly try to kill them often in an excessive manner. He does seem to also genuinely believe the paper bag "Harold" is alive, giving it a drink at each show, making sure it rides in the front passenger seat no matter what and at first thinking her shot his followers. He also turns out to have the nagging grudge, still hating Billy years after killing him and unleashing his old feelings of bitterness over his dead parents, also mocking Wesley by still refusing to call him dad.

Physical Appearance[]

Sweet Tooth in the TV series bares a strong resemblance to that of his Twisted Metal: Black and 2012 counterparts the most, except he doesn't have his trademark flaming hair for most the show. He also carries around a machete regularly, which is taken straight from Twisted Metal (2012).

Powers and Abilities[]

Sweet Tooth is shown to be extremely strong with him easily overpowering several armed guards in a very short time, even cutting off a head with a single swing of his machete. He is also shown extreme pain tolerance and superhuman durability with being shot in the eye and run over not being able to kill him or even incapacitate him for a long time despite even setting his own head on fire moments before. He is also shown to be a skilled mechanic as he customized an old ice cream truck to be able to fire missiles along with having a mounted machine gun.

Equipment[]

Like all versions of Sweet Tooth before he has a customized ice cream truck with machine guns and other forms of weaponry. Much like the 2012 version he is shown to be use a custom machete that he seems to of welded together himself.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the video games, Sweet Tooth is less of a sadistic killer and more of a psychotic would-be entertainer who escaped from an asylum. That being said, his body count remains extensive though it is not to the levels of his darker incarnations.
  • His best friend in the TV series is a paper bag he calls Harold which is a callback to his ending in the first Twisted Metal.
