~ Sweetheart |
Sweetheart is the secondary antagonist of the Omori franchise. She is an obnoxious and egotistical duchess who frequently causes trouble for Omori and his friends in-game.
Appearance[]
Sweetheart is a tan skinned lady with various shades of pink on her dress and bow on her head, even her hair is a lighter shade of pink tied into symmetrical flowing pigtails. She also has some white parts of her outfit, namely on her short frilly sleeves and around the collar of her shirt. Sweetheart wears what seems to be a belt of some kind with a broken heart emblem on it. The heart motif carries over to her weapon of choice, a short pink flail with a spiky heart-shaped striking head.
Personality[]
Sweetheart is a very egotistical person, believing herself to be more important than anyone else. She is someone who seeks power more than anything, and this is reflected in her status as a self-proclaimed princess, as well as her grand castle. She is often cruel, as seen with how she sends numerous Sprout Moles, and later Omori and his friends, into a dungeon. Despite this, she is still loved by the Sprout Mole colony and by Captain Spaceboy, her former boyfriend and former husband.
Biography[]
Past[]
Prior to the game, Sweetheart lived in at a desert (most likely to be the in-game location, Orange Oasis) and was described as "poor". One day, however, she encountered a Something-like creature known as the Keeper of the Castle. She begged it for a castle and servants, for that is what she desired most. Due to this, her ego would be greatly inflated, and she would begin a tyrannical rule.
Sometime after this, Sweetheart would develop a romantic relationship with Capt. Spaceboy. However, due to unknown reasons they broke up, causing Capt. Spaceboy to become Space Ex-Boyfriend (with him ending up in a depressive state.) Sweetheart, however, would attempt to find a perfect suitor for herself through Sweetheart's Quest for Hearts, a show she ran where she would try and find the perfect partner.
Omori[]
Before entering Pyrefly Forest, where Sweetheart's castle was, Omori and his friends come across a group of Sprout Moles with tickets for Sweetheart's Quest for Hearts. The Sprout Moles realize they are lost, and out of confusion, attack Omori and his friends. When they are defeated, Omori and friends collect the dropped tickets and decide to check Sweetheart's Quest for Hearts out if they stumble upon it.
When the group enters the Sprout Mole Village after defeating a horrific monster, they find the entrance to Sweetheart's stage and watch the introduction to Sweetheart's Quest for Hearts. However, a power outage occurs before Sweetheart herself can be introduced, forcing the party to restore power through a large plug nearby.
When they return, Hero is taken away to replace one of the contestants who died during the power outage, and so, the show continues as planned. Sweetheart finally makes her entrance, already showing her cruel nature by calling her adoring fans stupid and sending two of the contestants to her personal dungeon. When only Hero is left, Sweetheart quickly falls in love with the young man, but upon being rejected, she sends Hero and the others to the dungeon.
After this, Sweetheart would choose to end her Quest for Hearts by marrying herself, saying she is the only person suitable for herself. Omori and friends (disguised as Sprout Moles) make their way back to the stage, and call her out on this decision. Sweetheart, frustrated, attacks them, leading to a large fight. After the party defeats Sweetheart, Capt. Spaceboy suddenly arrives and proposes to Sweetheart, who accepts and continues on with a normal wedding. Afterwards, the pair exits the stage.
The group later finds Sweetheart after gaining their freedom from Mr. Jawsum, where she reveals that she and Capt. Spaceboy already got a divorce less than a day later, sending Capt. Spaceboy back into his depression (with him becoming Space Ex-Husband.) She also reveals that she now plans to get a family of "Sea Witches" to create a clone of her to marry. These "Sea Witches" turn out to be the Slime Girls within Humphrey, all of whom fail to meet her demands in some way. Sweetheart is later confronted by all three Slime Girls for not paying them, but runs off after still refusing to pay. However, she is stopped by Humphrey, who swallows her and reveals Sweetheart didn't even have any Clams on her to begin with, much to the annoyance of the Slime girls.
Alternate Route[]
Despite how violent Humphrey can be, Sweetheart is revealed to be alive in the game's alternate route. She is found inside of Humphrey, now a maid to Perfectheart known as "Sweepheart." Additionally, the Keeper of the Castle decides that Sweetheart won't return and offers to let Omori reshape the castle to whatever he desires, taking away everything Sweetheart could potentially return to in the process. Sweetheart is also among many of the bosses refought during the Boss Rush.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Positive Energy: Infatuated with herself and her own greatness, Sweetheart becomes permanently Happy upon reaching 75% health, Ecstatic at 50% health, and Manic at 25% health. Each stage increases her chance to deliver a critical hit, but reduces her chance to hit. She is immune to the Angry and Sad emotions.
- Strength: Sweetheart is capable of delivering impressive damage with nothing more than a simple slap.
- Proficient Flail Wielder: Sweetheart wields a vicious flail with a heart-shaped head, and is capable of whacking all of Omori's party members with it in a single turn.
- Toxic Obnoxiousness: Sweetheart utilizes her arrogant and prideful demeanor to her advantage to throw her foes off-balance. Her infuriating laugh and insults can inflict the ANGRY emotion on a whole party at once. As the HAPPY emotion has an advantage over the ANGRY emotion in the game's battle system, this completely cripples the party's ability to fight her.
- Charming Presence: Despite feeling nothing but visible scorn towards her fans, Sweetheart is somehow a very popular star throughout the Headspace world, mainly among the Sprout Mole race.
- Lord of the Castle: She is the uncontested ruler of the domain summoned for her by the Keeper of the Castle, granting her access to vast riches and an army of Sprout Mole servants and soldiers, including armored knights, halberdeers, archers and even mages.

Trivia[]
- Sweetheart is the most reoccurring villain in the Headspace segments aside from Something itself.
- Sweetheart's main purpose in Headspace is to distract Omori and his friends from their goal of finding Basil.
- There are two possible inspirations for Sweetheart's existence in Headspace:
- 1: The owner of the candy store in Othermart, who acts similarly to Sweetheart.
- 2: A "Sweetheart doll" found during the sorting mini-game in the alternate route. However, the fact that this doll isn't shown on-screen makes this somewhat open to interpretation.
- Sweetheart is apparently a sentient doughnut, as revealed in the Orange Oasis by talking to a Donut Grandma who says her granddaughter sends her postcards of herself at times, with one of the postcards revealed to be a picture of Sweetheart at the beach with Sprout Mole Mike in swimwear, exposing her donut hole. This same image can be found on "Pessi's Thing" during the eponymous quest.
