Biography[]
In 1985, Syd White was a drug lord in St. Louis who sent drug smuggler Andrew C. Thornton II on a smuggling run carrying a large shipment of cocaine. However, Thornton died after attempting to parachute out of his plane while attempting to evade authorities. After his body was recovered in Knoxville and some of the cocaine was lost, Syd sent his son Eddie and his fixer Daveed to recover the lost drugs, worth over a million dollars. Unbeknownst to all of them, a black bear ingested some of the lost cocaine thrown from the plane, and went on a drug-fueled rampage across the forest, killing several hikers.
Soon, Syd's clients mounted heavier pressure to recover the drugs. As the bear continued her killing streak, Syd arrived with a police officer on his payroll, Reba, and kills Bob, the detective investigating Syd's involvement and tracking down the cocaine. Syd later discovered the bear's cave, wherein large duffel bags of cocaine are stashed, as well as the bear's two cubs. Arriving with his posse at the cave, Syd finds another group of survivors: Olaf, Sari, and Henry; Olaf who had been sheltering Sari's daughter Dee Dee after the bear threatened her in the forest. Syd wants to kill them all to eliminate any witnesses but finds himself betrayed by his henchmen, who escape with the other survivors.
Syd greedily tried to grab one of the bags of cocaine stuck on a tree branch above a small ledge behind the falls when the bear returned to protect her cubs. Syd shoots the bear, causing her to fall onto a small ledge below, but is resurrected after unwittingly snorting more cocaine. The bumped-up bear climbs back up and slashes Syd in the stomach with her claw, tearing open his organs. Syd writhed in agony as the cubs began to tug at his intestines, pulling them out and devouring them. Syd's fate is hastened when the bear nudges him off the ledge, sending his disemboweled body crashing onto the rocks below, killing him.
