Sydney is a minor antagonist of The Legend of Drizzt, serving as the secondary antagonist of Streams of Silver. She was an ambitious and cunning young member of the Arcane Brotherhood, who was apprenticed to the wizard Dendybar the Mottled. During her master's quest for the powerful magical artifact known as the Crenshinibon, she travelled with flesh golem named Bok, a soldier named Jierdan, and the assassin Artemis Entreri to hunt the rogue drow Drizzt Do'Urden.

Sydney was described as fairly average looking young person, with short hair and a long cloak to signify she was a wizard.
Personality[]
Sydney was very ambitious, hoping to rise to the top ranks of the Arcane Brotherhood and dedicating her every action to that goal. She was willing to do anything to achieve this, including murdering people she had no involvement with. She found friends or any type of relationship to be a distraction and was therefore only kind to a person if she wanted to manipulate them. Despite this, she was deeply loyal to her mentor Dendybar, admiring him for perceived intelligence and power, and was greatly disillusioned when she discovered he didn't trust her.
Sydney was an intelligent individual. She was very manipulative and able to know how to make different do what she wanted. She was also very much capable of planning ahead and using all of her resources to her advantage.
Synopsis[]
Life in Luskan[]
Sydney was born in the city of Luskan, and since she was very skilled at magic, joined the Arcane Brotherhood. She was apprenticed to the conniving Dendybar, who likely influenced to ruthlessly chase her ambitions. At some point, she met Harkle Harpell, who fell in love with her. Although she found him irritating, she led him to believe that she might want to be with him someday, on the off chance that he might be helpful.
At some point, Dendybar became obsessed with obtaining the Crenshinibon, which he believed to be in the possession of rogue drow Drizzt Do'Urden. When an assassin name Artemis Entreri who also hunted Drizzt's group arrived in Luskan, Sydney was sent to retrieve him and bring him to her master. There, Dendybar formed an alliance with Entreri, with the assassin agreeing to help them capture the party in exchange getting to take the halfling member he was hunting.
Over the next few days, Dendybar and Sydney looked for ways to find Drizzt's party. They eventually succeeded when Sydney was contacted by Harkle, who told her that the group had stopped at his home in Longsaddle, and that they were heading towards the city of Silverymoon. With this information in mind, Sydney set out to find them along with Entreri, Entreri's hostage Catti-bree (a friend of the company that they hunted), a soldier named Jeirdan, and a flesh golem named Bok.
Hunting Drizzt Do'Urden[]
During the journey to Silverymoon, Entreri revealed to Sydney that Bok would not follow her orders if she ordered him to return to Dendybar, showing her that Dendybar did not trust her enough to give her full control of the golem. When their party arrived in Silverymoon, they could not find Drizzt's group. After staying there for a few days, Bok saw them getting turned away at the gates. Sydney's group quickly left the city with the knowledge that they were in the same general area as their targets.
A few days later Jeirdan, who Entreri had continuously belittled, attacked the assassin. During their battle, Catti-bree knocked Sydney on the head with a rock, rendering her unconscious. Sydney awoke later to discover that Entreri had killed Jeirdan and that Catti-bree had escaped. However, it was simple enough to track her to her friends. The trail ended at a cliff face, but Sydney was able to identify it as a magical door, and they had Bok break it down, revealing the ancient dwarven Homeland of Mithral Hall.
Once inside, Sydney's group battled Drizzt's group. However, the battle was cut short when Entreri and Drizzt stepped on an ancient dwarven, causing the room to collapse and the two of them to fall to their deaths. Sydney was separated from Drizzt's companions and was unsure what to do with her target dead. She finally decided that she and Bok would capture the rest of the companions, bring them to Dendybar, and beg for forgiveness.
Sydney and Bok found the companions fighting the shadow-dragon Haerinvureem and attacked them. During the battle, Catti-bree shot an arrow in Sydney's heart, killing her.
Power and Abilities[]
Sydney was a very powerful wizard for her age, being able to shoot lightening from her fingers and control a powerful flesh golem. She was also very intelligent and manipulative.
Trivia[]
- Sydney's death would haunt Catti-bree for decades to come, with her being the first human she killed. She was also the first person Catti-bree killed that she had known outside of the battle.
