Sylvio: Don’t play the big man here, squirt, otherwise you’ll wind up just like thoos poor swine lying dead back there in the snow.
Hero: Those were your people?
Sylvio: Not any more. No big loss. Those idiots weren’t worth much anyway.
Hero: What happened to them?
Sylvio: They weren’t able to get past the big ice giants back there and got stamped out by them. If you’re such a tough guy, why don’t you give it a try?
Hero: Why don’t you get rid of the yourself?
Sylvio: Come, come. Don’t puff yourself up like that. If you ask me, you’re scared shitless.
~ The hero and Sylvio in the Valley of Mines.

Sylvio is a minor antagonist in Gothic 2 and Gothic 2: Night of the Raven. He was one of Onar’s mercenaries and later he was the leader of the dragon hunters in the Valley of Mines.

Biography

Sylvio arrived with several mercenaries on Onar's farm from the South where they fought against the orcs. Most of Onar’s mercenaries were convicts in the mining colony. The leader of the mercenaries was Lee, who was once the king's greatest general. Since Onar and Lee needed people against the king and the militia, anyone could join them. Later, however, Sylvio wanted more and wanted to take Lee's place as a leader of all the mercenaries. However, it wasn’t that simple, as Lee was a much stronger and more experienced fighter than Sylvio. Therefore, he tried slowly but surely to turn the mercenaries against him. Thus Onar's mercenaries fell into two groups. They seemed united, but in fact the contrast was frequent. Most of the mercenaries did not take the threat seriously and a few took Sylvio's intent seriously. The plans of the two leaders also differed. Lee was driven only by his revenge against King Rhobar II and his plan being to leave the island of Khorinis with his mercenaries and sail to Myrtana to take revenge against the king in personally. And Sylvio's plan was to go with the mercenaries to the Valley of the Mines, the territory of the colony, and take advantage of the knights plight and the attack of the dragons. The main difference between the two of them was that Lee wanted to implement his plan slowly and patiently, while Sylvio began to go overboard. His main intentions were to plunder the small farms, waylay the militia patrols outside the city and hold up the travelers. However, Lee was completely opposed to these actions and since he was the leader of the mercenaries, Sylvio could not object to him. However, Sylvio did not stay calm. His two men, Alvares and Engardo threatened Akil on his farm with some farmers. However, the nameless hero defended the farmers and the two mercenaries were killed. The hero went to Onar's farm, where Sylvio and his men were. He punished the big mouth mercenaries and gave them a cruel beating. He even defeated Sentenza, one of the strongest mercenary. Sylvio and his loyal companion Bullco sat together at a table in Thekla's tavern. The hero sometimes tried to provoke Sylvio to attack, but instead Bullco attacked him. The hero defeated the surprisingly strong Bullco, but Sylvio did not move at all. The hero did not want to attack him, so he left the building. After the attack of the dragons in the Valley of Mines, Sylvio began to organize his team. Bennett, the smith of the mercenaries designed and forged the armor of the dragon hunters. As the hero and Bennett worked to repair the Eye of Innos, Sylvio and his men set off for the Valley of Mines. In addition to some of his own men on Sylvio's group, there were other strangers and a few of Lee's mercenaries. Some of them were adventurers, a trophy collectors, criminals.

Sylvio and Bullco in the Valley of Mines.

When they arrived, he went forward with some of his men to the castle, and another group remained at the pass. He wanted as much information about the dragons in the castle as possible. The knights told him about one. He was Finkregh, the ice dragon who was considered the strongest and most dangerous. Sylvio's eyes flashed at this point and he walked with some of his men toward the area of the ice dragon. The ice dragon lived where the New Camp used to be in the colony. With the exception of Bullco, Sylvio sent his men forward, they had been killed by two ice golems guarding the entrance to the area. He then waited with Bullco at an abandoned camp. Later, the nameless hero arrived, who had already killed three dragons. Sylvio wanted him to disappear at first, but after the hero said no he wanted to use him. He promised him 1,000 gold if he destroy the two ice golems. The hero successfully defeated the giants, but Sylvio didn't pay him the promised reward, he just said „All in its own good time.” Sylvio immediately rushed to the entrance to the area, Bullco walking slowly after him. Sylvio wanted the hero to go ahead and look around, and then they would go after him too. The hero killed the monsters and Finkregh as well. Sylvio was happy at the time because the dragon had died, but he wanted the glory for himself and ith Bullco he attacked the hero. However, the hero defended himself. Bullco was injured and Sylvio died.
