Tçulo is a demon appearing in Romani folklore, taking the form of a stag beetle/crayfish/sea urchin hybrid. He is the third of the dread children born of the unholy union between Ana and the King of the Loçolico. Tçulo is the embodiment of intestinal disease and causes nausea, cramps and abdominal pain. He is also considered to be the father of all "women's and men's diseases".
Biography[]
Birth[]
Tçulo is the third child of the king of the Loçolico and his captive bride Ana. He was born at the instigation of his eldest sibling, the bird demon Melalo. The king was jealous of Melalo's large amount of children and desired to impregnate his wife again, so Melalo advised his father to consume the meat of a crayfish and a stag beetle before having sex with Ana. The king did as his son advised and successfully impregnated Ana, and Tçulo was born soon after.
Marriage[]
Like his siblings, Tçulo was a disease deity and regularly tormented humans. A sadistic being who is a sea urchin, Tçulo enjoyed crawling inside humans and rolling around their digestive tracts to torture them with his spines. The Romani of Eastern Europe believed this to be the cause of stomach cramps and intestinal diseases. Tçulo also enjoyed causing other unpleasant symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, and especially loved to target pregnant women, yet he also does attack men, albeit rarely.
This proclivity resulted in Tçulo going after not only humans, but female spirits who were also pregnant, including Melalo's wife, Lilyi. Melalo asked his father to sire another daughter so that Tçulo could mate with her and would leave Lilyi alone. The king accordingly impregnated Ana with his fourth child, Tçaridyi, the embodiment of fever. Tçulo and Tçaridyi married, and sure enough, they began mating and producing twisted inbred offspring. They and their siblings and children are thought to have continued breeding to this day and produced even more awful creatures.
Nature[]
Tçulo is just as cruel as his father and siblings. Tçulo is a sadist who like his wife enjoys crawling inside unsuspecting humans, especially women, and inflicting suffering and illness on them, but rarely does cause death. The children he produces with Tçaridyi is the embodiment of all women's diseases, in keeping with the couple's love of tormenting women. He used to torment Lilyi. However, Tçulo is also a victim of Schilalyi's abuse, until Bitoso appeared and calmed her down.
