The T-850s are the overarching antagonists of the Rise of the Machines Timeline of the Terminator franchise.
They are a much more advanced series of Terminator units developed by Skynet to better infiltrate and destroy the Resistance. They're also the replacement of the T-800s.
History[]
Rise of the Machines Timeline[]
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines[]
After years of battle, the T-800s became obsolete, and so Skynet stopped producing them and began developing a much improved Series within the 800 Series to replace them. Once the T-850s came to exist, their still-functioning predecessors were shut down once they outlived their usefulness.
The T-850s were shown attacking humans in one of John's nightmares.
Since Judgement Day happened, it's most likely they're still waging war for Skynet.
Terminator: Resistance[]
In 2029, Skynet began producing T-850s near the end of the war. It deployed one unit to guard it's core under the Griffith Observatory and one to raid the Resistance Shelter alongside other Terminators. Several other units were deployed outside the defense grid during the California Offensive. Just like all the other Terminators, they stopped functioning following the destruction of Skynet's core. Before that happened, however, Skynet managed to send a solo T-850 back in time to kill Resistance member Jacob Rivers, as he's the one responsible for finding out how to reprogram Terminators and knew where Skynet's core was housed in, making him the key to Skynet's downfall.
Known Units[]
T-850 Squad[]
T-850 Squad
The T-850 Squad is, as the name suggests, a squad made-up of T-850s in the T2 Saga Timeline.
Skynet sent a T-850 to kill John Connor. However, it was destroyed by John and his mother Sarah with the help from a "Terminator" (actually John from the future) sent by the Resistance. Instead of sending just one unit, Skynet decided to send a squad consisting of eight T-850s who shares the same Model and outfit to kill John in New Orlean, 1996. One such unit tracked down John and chased him while he was on his way towards his new school. After John hid himself inside a bar, the T-850 Squad began a brawl because they weren't able to find John, killing a bunch of people in the process. One of the T-850s managed to locate John inside the bar and was about to kill him, before it was temporarily stopped by a grown-up John who was accidentally sent back in time by the T-Infinity. Unable to locate John again, the squad tracked down their beta target: Sarah Connor, who was near John's school. Before they could terminate her, T-Infinity intervened and began to fight the T-850 Squad. The battle ended with T-Infinity destroying all of them.
T-850[]
T-850
The T-850 Infiltrator is, as it's name suggests, a Terminator of the 850 Series. It was sent back in time by Skynet just before it's destruction to kill Jacob Rivers, the messenger who gave John Connor the location of Skynet's core.
It was voiced by an unknown voice actor.

Trivia[]
- In the Future War nightmare from the film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the Endoskeleton army should be T-800 Terminators as John had not met a T-850 yet. However, since the production of the T3 only created the character model for the T-850, the image of Nightmare Endoskeletons is sometime used to represent the T-850 for Terminator Wiki.
- The term "T-850" is used in most of the Rise of the Machines media except for the film itself, in which "T-101" is used instead.
- In the the film's novelization, it is said the T-850's skin is made of duroplast, a form of pliant plastic instead of living tissue.
- In Terminator 3: The Redemption, the T-850 endoskeleton is redesigned for the game, making it quite different from the T-800 as seen in the first two films. It's design is based on an early concept art of the T-900s (see "Gallery" above). In addition, the T-900 in The Redemption is an enhanced version of the T-850 in several aspects, including a Plasma Reactor as it's power source and additional armor plate covering.
- The T-850 of Terminator: Resistance was the first infiltrator with a living tissue sheath in the game, or at least the first one the Resistance learned about.
- In the Terminator: Resistance video game, the T-850 Terminator is deployed only as an Infiltrator, not an endoskeleton infantry on battlefield.
- Similar to their counterparts in the Rise of the Machines Timeline, the T-850s' combat chassis is reinforced to be resistant to plasma weapons acquired by the Resistance fighters; the first-generation to be exact. Only when acquiring second-generation plasma weapons can the player significantly damage the T-850s.
