Tommy: Lord of the Seven Seas. Wow. My man, I'm such an incredible fan.
Tessa: Jesus, Tommy. Slather his balls in peanut butter, why don't you?
~ Tommy and Tessa upon meeting The Deep at Herogasm.
TNT! Detonate!
~ The twins' catching when activating their powers, also their last words when attempting to kill Soldier Boy.

Tommy and Tessa, also known as the TNT Twins, are supporting antagonists in Season 3 of the 2019 Amazon TV series The Boys.

The siblings were famous superheroes who were members of Payback during the 1980s and later betrayed their leader, Soldier Boy, due to his habitual abuse. Following the disbandment of the group, the twins became the hosts of herogasm, and during the seventieth annual, they were confronted and killed by their former team leader.

The twins were portrayed by Jack Doolan (who also played Wolf in Sisu) and Kristin Booth.

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Tommy and Tessa's past, but they were fraternal twins empowered by Compound V, allowing them to shoot energy from their hands when making physical contact. Due to their popularity, the twins became members of Payback alongside Soldier Boy, Black Noir, Crimson Countess, Gunpowder, Mindstorm, and Swatto. The group would become victims of Soldier Boy's habitual abuse, and the twins once witnessed him brutally assault Black Noir over him failing to start a movie career. His abuse resulted in the twins developing a hatred for him, but it also caused them to fear him due to his superior abilities. According to Soldier Boy, the twins were incompetent, remarking they couldn't aim and missed their marks repeatedly.

Operation Charly[]

Having enough of Soldier Boy's abuse, Black Noir informed the twins, Crimson Countess and Mindstorm, of his plan to betray their leader to the Russians to get rid of him. He was able to commit to the plan due to Vought giving him the green light, as the company had created a boy named Homelander to be Soldier Boy's replacement. In 1984, Payback was sent to Nicaragua to help the CIA's dealing with the illegal drug trade fight against the Soviets. During the operation, the Russians and Sandinistas attacked the camp, resulting in high causalities from both sides. During the attack, the twins, Black Noir, Crimson Countess, and Mindstorm confronted Soldier Boy and witnessed the supe brutally disfigure Noir. However, Mindstorm was able to use his powers to have Countess knock him unconscious with gas, allowing the Russians to capture him.

Following the attack, the group covered their betrayal by telling their case officer, Grace Mallory, that Soldier Boy was captured and killed by the Russians. Vought then further covered the event by telling the public that he heroically sacrificed himself to stop a nuclear meltdown in the United States. Payback was later disbanded by Vought in favor of the Seven, which Black Noir became a member of due to his loyalty to the company. The twins went on to become the hosts of a kids television show called "The TNT Smile-Time Hour," but later became washed-up has-beens as the years went on. No longer at their peak, the twins became the hosts of herogasm, a secret orgy event for supes to perform sexual acts.

Season Three[]

During the seventieth annual of Herogasm, the twins were greeted by the Deep, who was tasked by Homelander to learn what he could from them on Soldier Boy. The Deep instead became a guest of the party and performed with a sea creature as the twins continued on to host the event. The two are later confronted by Soldier Boy, who wants to know who planned the attack and explains that he will let them go if they tell him who it was. Tommy tells him that it was Black Noir, but Soldier Boy refuses to believe so due to Noir's loyalty to Vought. During the confrontation, Soldier Boy is triggered by Russian music once again, resulting in the twins deciding to kill him by activating their powers. However, the twins only shoot sparks from their hands, as Soldier Boy kills them and several guests with his energy blast.

Personality[]

The twins are very alike. They are both glory addicts, distrustful, and natural slackers. They often argue with each other, as all siblings do. They do, however, have some differences. For example, Tessa is extremely exaggerative, while Tommy is cold and heartless. Tessa and Tommy are also extremely big on having sex and get laid very frequently, and they might have even taken part in separate threesomes. Their desire for sex is so great that they are the hosts of Herogasm. However, Tommy is a bit more unrestrained than Tessa is. This is shown by how Tommy installed a camera inside the restroom toilets so he could see the insides of people’s butts, and Tessa found it to be disgusting.
