The Tail Soldiers are the lowest ranking members and footsoldiers of the Tailed-People Clan Jashinka Empire and recurring antagonists in Kagaku Sentai Dynaman. They are the only members to have only 1 tail each.
Group History[]
Past[]
The Tail Soldiers and Jashinka Empire as a whole originated from a meteor that crashed into Earth and burrowed into its core, where the lifeforms within it evolved into a civilisation known as the Tailed-People. The Tail Soldiers specifically evolved from the base Jashinka one-cell organism that came to Earth from space from prehistoric times, reaching their humanoid forms. They gained some form of sentience but not to the level of power and capability of their superiors so they only had one tail each. The Tailed-People became advanced in science and eventually came to be ruled by Emperor Aton and his son Prince Megiddo who believed the Earth to belong to them.
Some time in the past, the Jashinka Empire sent two Tail Soldiers to Earth to spy on human society and learn the species' weaknesses. However, they came to like human society so much that they defected and became Kyoko and Nobuo Ogata who later had a son named Kazuo.
Dynaman[]
In 1982, the Jashinka Empire launch an-all out invasion of the surface world with the goal to forcibly convert all of humanity into Tailed-People like themselves. The Tail Soldiers are first seen working together with Crab Evo to kidnap humans for General Kar to experiment on only to be chased down by Hokuto Dan and Rei Tachibana. Although they and three allies manage to force the truck to crash, rescue the hostages and overwhelm the Tail Soldiers, Crab Evo arrives and blasts them into the ocean. After discovering that humans cannot become Nine-Tailed People, Aton sends Prince Megiddo to lead the final invasion which includes an army of Tail Soldiers and Crab Evo. Very quickly though, they are intercepted by the newly founded Dynamen who quickly kill the Tail Soldiers and Crab Evo which puts an end to the initial invasions. After several failures, the Jashinka Empire just decide to exterminate the human race altogether and later summon the Emperor's niece Princess Chimera after more failures which also brings her second in command; a Tail Soldier named Bilgis who later dies in a cave-in.
Eventually, after the death of Emperor Aton, Meggido becomes Emperor and Chimera Empress trap the Dynamen announces to his subjects that they will be stealing the Dynamen's mecha and using it to conquer Earth. After the Dynamen are rescued by Yumeno, Megiddo and Chimera go out to face them one final time with the Tail Soldiers and Fire Sphinx but the Tail Soldiers are all swiftly slain by the Dynamen. The final five Tail Soldiers alive remain in the Grand Gizmo and aid Meggido and Chimera in fighting Dyna Robo using its fire but the Dynamen use their Lightning Gravity Fall. Crippled, the Grand Gizmo careens into the ground and explodes, killing Megiddo, Chimera and the last of the Tail Soldiers.
Turboranger[]
During the Turborangers' first battle against the Hundred Boma Tribes, they are joined by all ten previous Super Sentai teams which includes the Dynamen. As the Sentai fight, the narrator recalls Battle Fever's many battles which includes the Dynamen defeating the first Tail Soldiers.
Gokaiger[]
Several Tail Soldiers are part of an army of past enemy grunts fought by the Gokaigers in Los Dark's ghost dimension which houses the 1500 spirits of the villains defeated by the Super Sentai. After losing some of their number in an initial skirmish, the remaining members from each grunt group merged to form the Combined Combatant. Though the stronger opponent, the Combined Combatant proves to be unstable due to internal conflicting among the grunts composing him over who got to finish the pirates off. Taking advantage, the Gokaigers use the Battle Fever J Ranger Keys to destroy the Combined Combatant with the Penta Force cannon.
Personality[]
The Tail Soldiers were very violent but loyal footsoldiers completely subservient to their masters and willing to do anything for them. They were quite intelligent for footsoldiers, being able to pose and act as humans very well for espionage. However, most of them were incapable of any form of speech besides unintelligible squealing with only a few exceptions.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: The Tail Soldiers were strong enough to fight on par with the Dynamen as well as restrain humans with ease and pick up and lug around Crab Evo’s Bubble Ball Wraps even when they had humans trapped inside.
- Speech: A few Tail Soldiers could speak Japanese despite lacking mouths.
- Human Forms: Many of the Tail Soldiers were able to assume human forms to blend into the background for various schemes.
- Combination: As seen in Gokaiger, the Tail Soldiers could fuse with the other footsoldiers to form the Combined Combatant.
Weaknesses[]
- Tails: Even if they were disguised as humans, the Tail Soldiers retained their single tails which they had to hide as it made them very easy to find otherwise.
Arsenal[]
- Daggers: The Tail Soldiers' main weapons in battle were silver daggers which they used to hack and slash their enemies.
- Machine Guns: The Tail Soldiers would occasionally use machines guns for ranged combat.
- Grenades: The Tail Soldiers that appeared at the start of the series tried to kill Rei and Hokuto with grenades but failed.
- Bazookas: Very rarely, the Tail Soldiers would also use bazookas to try and kill the Dynamen.
