Taishang Laojun is a minor antagonist in the manga Record of Ragnarok Forbidden Legend - Apocalypse of The Gods, a spin-off of the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.
Taishang Laojun is a God in the Chinese Pantheon, as well as one of the Gods that Sun Wukong faced during his journey to become stronger.
Appearance[]
Taishang Laojun is a humanoid-looking God of an old man with long hair and a long beard, both braided, a long braided mustache, a small hat on his head, a pair of sunglasses and rings on his fingers. He wears a tunic with symbols on it, and carries a staff with a sphere at the end.
Personality[]
Taishang Laojun appears to be a God who holds a grudge, as he has not yet forgiven Sun Wukong for defeating him in the past, though he is not surprised when those stronger than him are put in a certain position.
Biography[]
Taishang Laojun is a God belonging to the Chinese Pantheon. In the past he clashed with Sun Wukong to take away his freedom, but is defeated by Wukong who even manages to drink Taishang Laojun's "golden elixir of long life".
When Sun Wukong takes the field to fight his Round of 16 match of the Apocalypse Tournament against Prometheus, eventually won by Sun Wukong, Taishang Laojun is not surprised by his presence in the competition.
Powers and Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: As a God, Taishang Laojun possesses physical abilities far superior to those of any ordinary Human. His body cannot be damaged by mortal weapons, however it can still be damaged by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength and Divine Weapons. For the same reason, Taishang Laojun is unable to die due to old age. Taishang Laojun is however no stronger than Sun Wukong, who defeated him in the past.

- He is the Taiqing (太清, lit. the Grand Pure One) which is one of the Three Pure Ones, the highest immortals of Taoism.
- His other names include Daode Zhizun (道德至尊, lit. 'The Universally Honoured Virtuous One') and Daojiao Zhizu (道教之祖, lit. 'The Taoist Ancestor').
