Villain Overview

Takayuki Kuroki is a major antagonist in the "R200 club" series of Wangan Midnight.

He is the owner of Speed Factory FLAT Racing who drives a white, Nissan Skyline GT-R R33. He was also a former member of the R200 Club but quit due to the team moving away from Wangan and onto legal racing. Kuroki seemed very interested in defeating "Blackbird" and the Devil Z.

He was voiced by Akimitsu Takase.

Biography[]

A devoted street racer, Takayuki Kuroki spends hours analyzing his vast storehouse data and coming up with his own strategies. He staunchly believes in his superiority of his own car, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R33, and refuses to drive anything else. Takayuki was formerly a member of the R200 Club, but he chose to disband and vowed to defeat Motoki, should he come into the scene once more. Takayuki first encountered Akio Asakura on the highway alongside Reina Akikawa and Tatsuya Shima during a run with the R200. Upon meeting them, he took interest on defeating Akio Asakura with his intellect and formidable skills.

Takayuki was also one of the few racers who managed to defeat Tatsuya Shima and began facing Akio Asakura during his final race to prove if his GT-R truly was worthy. During the race, he managed to have a huge lead over Akio. However, his engine unexpectedly blew, which resulted Akio Asakura having to push him into a stop which abruptly ended the race. Following the race, Kuroki praised Akio for saving him once his engine blew. Akio wondered who won, but Kuroki said that it didn't matter since hopes with his GT-R were fulfilled before they parted ways.

Trivia[]

  • Takayuki's voice actor, Akimitsu Takase, previously voiced Smiley Sakai in the Initial D series.
  • When Akio pushes Kuroki's GT-R after the latter's engine blows in the tunnel, this could somewhat be similar to Cars, where Lightning McQueen decides to give up the Piston Cup by helping Strip "The King" Weathers finish his final race after Chick Hicks crashes him on purpose when he was frustrated he wasn't going to pass him. The only difference was that Kuroki realized that his Skyline was "dying" and knew that Akio had to push him for assistance once his engine blew, whereas for McQueen, he only helped The King by sacrificing his own chances of winning because he realized that helping others was more important than winning even if he allowed Chick to claim victory by cheating.
  • Despite being labeled as an antagonist, Kuroki wasn't necessarily evil or truly villainous.
