Takeru Danma (known as The Hatter) is a supporting character in the manga series and Netflix show Alice in Borderland. He is a reference to the original Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
The Hatter is the founder and leader of the utopia in the Borderlands called the "Beach". He is Aguni's best friend.
Despite having genuinely good intentions, the Hatter started the Beach based on a lie to give hope to other players that there is a way to go back to the real world by collecting all the playing cards. This ended up leading the Hatter to insanity, as time went on and himself couldn't find any hope to return home. The Hatter started to kill players who betrayed the Beach by hiding their cards despite knowing that the cards won't help the players to go back to the original world.
He is portrayed by Kaneko Nobuaki. In the English dub, he is voiced by Carlo Mestroni.
