Konda

Takeshi Konda, better known as Konda, Lord of Eiganjo, is a human samurai and the main antagonist of the Kamigawa block of Magic: the Gathering. Wanting to extend his own life, he stole from O-Kagachi, the most powerful kami on the plane and plunged the world into a 20 year war.

History[]

Konda's Crime[]

Konda was arguably the most powerful man on the plane of Kamigawa. Ruling the majority of the humans from Eiganjo Castle, he wanted to ensure peace and prosperity for his subjects. Doing so would warp the fabric of the entire plane. Gaining the research and assistance from powerful figures like the kistune Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, the soratami(Moonfolk) Meloku, the sensei Hisoka, and his general Takeno, he performed a sacrilegious ritual by using sympathetic spirit energy at the time of his daughter Michiko's birth. This resulted in the barrier between the mortal and spirit worlds to be shattered and Konda stole something important from the most powerful kami O-Kagachi which was dubbed That Which Was Taken. While taking this essentially granted Konda immortality, it also was the catalyst for the Kami War. This war brought the mortals and spirits into a planar conflict that spanned 20 years.

The Reckoning[]

While the mortals put up a great fight, it was apparent that the spirits were more powerful than expected. While most of Konda's involvement in the war was revealed in letters he received from his allies, he played a big part in the War's climax. When Michiko and Kyodai(That Which Was Taken given the form of O-Kagachi's daughter) worked together to smite their fathers'. Kyodai punctured Konda's eyes, petrified his body, and shattered him into a million pieces. Hundreds of years later, legends still claim his undying remains still exist in the Jukai Forest.

Quotes[]

Duty and law are the foundation on which civilization stands. They must not fall, for when they do, they take everything with them.
~ Takeshi Konda
Why would I consider penance for my actions when I have so many subjects willing to do it for me?
~ Takeshi Konda
