Takumi Someya is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Katsumi Sugai) of Sega's 2016 beat'em up drama video game Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the sixth and final installment of the Yakuza Saga within Sega's Like a Dragon (Ryū ga Gotoku) franchise.
Someya is the patriarch of the Someya family, a Tojo Clan subsidiary, and the right hand of Katsumi Sagai, the Acting Chairman. However, Someya ultimately plots to usurp Sagai and become the Tojo Clan's 8th Chairman. He is also revealed to be the ex-husband of Kiyomi Kasahara, the owner of the Snack Kiyomi, a local bar in Onomichi.
He was portrayed by Shun Oguri.
Appearance[]
Someya has sleeked back black hair and brown eyes, with an above average height. He wears a striped cream colored suit. He is clean shaven and extremely muscular. He has no tattoo, as he believes that he is part of a new age of Yakuza, thus has no use for a tattoo.
Personality[]
Someya presents himself as a ruthless modern yakuza with little regard for code or conduct and seems to have a high disdain for yakuza traditions, such as tattoo's. He believes that the yakuza is all about profit. He can be pretty cruel as well, exemplified by his abusive relationship with his ex-wife, Kiyomi. When she split up with him, he takes custody of their daughter and refuses to let Kiyomi see her unless she comes all the way to Tokyo. He does this in the hopes of her taking him back.
Despite this, he does have a level of care and honor. It is said that he treats his daughter very well and reassures her that Kiyomi does still love her, despite her supposed absence. When Tsuneo Iwami and Katsumi Sagai were planning on murdering Kazuma Kiryu, Someya traveled to Hiroshima to warn Kiryu. When Kiryu asked why, he said that he didn't want to see the Dragon of Dojima killed by "unworthy schemers" and that he would rather challenge Kiryu himself when he attempts to become the Tojo Clan chairman, showing that while he outwardly has no respect for yakuza tradition, he does still hold a level of honor.
This fully comes out when Kiyomi's life is in line. Sagai tries to force Kiryu to kill Someya in order to save Kiyomi's life, but when Kiryu hesitates, Someya kills himself to save Kiyomi. This also shows honor, as he would end his own life for the sake of a loved one, as well as proving that despite what happened between them, Someya still loved Kiyomi.
