| “ | Takuya: Just because I won't let him blow this place to bits doesn't mean that I won't do it myself! Unless you wanna get buried, then leave this place, now! Take everyone here and get out! Itto: Heh, you won't go through with it. If you were that cruel, then why bother protecting every person you've come across, huh? Takuya: I'm not here to reason with you! Go! Just get out of here! This sacrifice is mine to make, mine alone! Why couldn't you just stay out of it! Itto: No one needs to sacrifice themselves! Takuya: Alright, then you tell me, what am I supposed to do!? I've tarnished our oni pride and abandoned our ancestors' oath. Only sacrifice can restore my pride now! I chose this path so I could provide for my fellow oni. I was ready to die from the very beginning. This is between us blue oni! But you... If it wasn't for you, everything would have worked out perfectly! |

| “ | Oh, maybe there's something secretly troubling him? He seemed different from the rest of the gang... They seem like heartless crooks, but I'd say he comes across more like a confused child who made some poor choices. | „ |

Takuya is a major antagonist of the 2020 action role-playing fantasy game, Genshin Impact who serves as one of the two main antagonists in Arataki Itto's Story Quest, Taurus Iracundus Chapter: Act I - Rise Up, Golden Soul.
He is a member of the Blue Oni, one of the two Oni Clans in Inazuma alongside the Crimson Oni. Seeing how Humanity would not accept his clan, Takuya turned to a life of crime to support his people. Later joining a Ronin group to steal goods from Inazuman Civilians.
He's voiced by Brandon J. Winckler (Who also voiced Preceptor Taoran (Younger) from Honkai: Star Rail) in English dub, and Yang Chaoran (Who voiced Aventurine in Honkai: Star Rail) in Chinese dub.
History[]
The Oni are a race inhabiting the Inazuman islands. They are a proud and prideful race. As humans feared them, a majority of them lived a secluded lifestyle.
Inazuman Fairytale[]
According to an Inazuman Fairytale, there were once two Oni: A Blue Oni, who preferred seclusion, and a Crimson Oni, who wished to socialize with humans. The Crimson Oni's initial attempts ended in failure as the humans would throw beans at him out of fear. The Blue Oni then proposed a solution: he would take up a villainous role and perform evil "acts" against the humans, while the Crimson Oni would take up a heroic role and scare him off. The plan worked, and the Crimson Oni was finally accepted by the Humans, while the Blue Oni went into exile.
The fairytale outlines a broader agreement between the Crimson and Blue Oni clans. The agreement stated that the Blue Oni would maintain their Oni Pride by keeping to their own and not interacting with humans, allowing the Crimson Oni to attempt integration in human society, but with 2 conditions. 1. All Oni were to abandon their prejudice against humans, refraining from mistreating them, but at the same time not standing for mistreatment against themselves. 2. If the Crimson Oni would integrate into human society, they would still embrace their honest characters and not change to please humans, allowing them to carry on the Oni Bloodline while continuing to embrace their Oni Pride.
Life of Crime[]
The Agreement between the two clans had left a majority of the Blue Oni to life their lives in poverty, malnourishment, and disease as they could not rely on humans for support. Takuya, being a Blue Oni himself, chose to abandon his pride and resort to thievery to support his people. Nogata, the leader of a Ronin group, invited him to join to utilize his Takuya's raw strength. Takuya accepted, but on the condition no innocent people would be killed.
Although having abandoned his pride, Takuya still refrained from mistreating humans. Nogata's men kidnapped many Inazuman Merchants, yet Takuya did his best to provide them with extra food and water behind the vagrants' backs. Takuya also prevented the vagrants from killing a merchant named Masato, instead having them simply take his goods.
Confrontation[]
Due to having not seen a Blue Oni for millennia, the people of Inazuma believed they had died of. Therefore, the Crimson Oni, Arataki Itto, came under suspect instead of Takuya. Itto claimed responsibility so he could do his own research to discover why an Oni had chosen this path.
Itto, the Traveler, and Paimon all staked out at Nazuchi beach for the Ronin Group to arrive to steal from merchants. After defeating the Ronin, they confronted Takuya. Itto accused Takuya of breaking the oath their clans swore. Takuya however, accused Itto of being a hypocrite as he failed to uphold his own Oni Pride, especially since he got his vision taken away during the Vision Hunt Decree. Takuya then began explaining his reasoning, stating how the agreement left his people to suffer, leading to his choice to abandon it to support his family and friends.
The Traveler and Paimon then argued that the Blue Oni could integrate into Human Society like the Crimsons. As well as the fact that if humans saw any Oni, Blue or Crimson, causing trouble, it would only defeat the whole purpose of the sacrifice the Blues made. Takuya then argued that Itto was the one who needed to get that fact straight. Claiming that as Blue Oni, they are expected to be the villains, and their actions will not tarnish the reputation of the Crimson Oni. However, if Itto chose to take all the blame for himself, he would only destroy the already fragile trust between Humans and Oni. When Itto stated he only did so to protect Takuya, Takuya told him to get his priorities straight by forgetting about the Blue Oni, since the Crimsons are the ones who must live on according to the agreement.
The Tenryou commission then arrived to arrest Itto. Takuya quickly fled back to his group's hideout, leaving Itto to fight off the Commission members.
