We do not sleep! We do not fail! The Night is coming!
~ Talen at the end of his speech.

Talen is one of two main antagonists (alongside James Caddock) of the 2019 horror movie The Car: Road to Revenge. He is the leader of The Night, a criminal organisation that engages in human trafficking. And after one of his men is arrested, a data chip is acquired that contains evidence of illegal activity on it. Leading to him having his employees try to retrieve the chip from James Caddock under threat of murder.

He was portrayed by Martin Hancock.

Biography[]

The film opens with one of the people working for his criminal organisation The Night, which terrorises the city and engages in human trafficking, being caught, prosecuted and executed for kidnapping and attempting to traffick a woman. This guy was carrying a data chip with thousands of files of illegal activity in it, so Talen orders some people working for him to go after James Caddock, the man now in possession of the chip. A bit later in the film, Talen’s employees show up to get the chip. They kill Caddock’s security guard, torture him in an attempt to obtain the location of the chip and then eventually kill him.

We first meet Talen while he’s pulling apart a dead body. His employees tell him they couldn’t find the chip despite looking everywhere. Which causes Talen to begin talking about the human body, how he made the cybernetics the employees use, how they make them whole and how if they disappoint him again by not finding the chip he’ll kill them all. This results in them going after Daria, killing the police officer sent to protect her and her friend. They try to kill Daria but she ends up killing two of them, and the third one is killed off by Caddock, allowing her to escape.

This causes Talen to order a meeting of the members of The Night. There he promises unlimited access to the merchandise, presumably the trafficked women, to whoever can get him the chip. And a modification of the choice of whoever can get him Daria. He then ends the speech by demanding that Daria, the car that has been killing his employees and anyone that has ever so much as smiled at Daria be torn to teeny tiny shreds. With his employees then taking to the streets to fulfil his request. Two corrupt cops working for him get Daria in their car, but Daria quickly catches on to their act and forces them to leave where they’re then killed by Caddock. Daria almost manages to get away but she’s then followed by Caddock, causing all the people following him to follow her too.

Talen then sends her a message saying she should give up because even though that car is bulletproof, she isn’t. This causes Daria to respond by telling him he’s not her friend. Causing Talen to make a deal with her that if she leads Caddock to the quarry, he’ll call off his employees. She leads him in but when it’s revealed there’s no driver, the deal is called off and Daria is taken captive. Talen then speaks to her personally, taunting her over the death of her friend, and tries to convince her to join his side, with Daria agreeing. The man seen working for Caddock before is revealed to be under Talen’s payroll, and attempts to have Rainer executed but he manages to break out of custody and goes to find Talen. Talen then attempts to get Daria to torture the guy who failed to execute Rainer, with him insisting that they force him to do it. Daria agrees only to turn on him and stab him in the eye, leading to Talen ordering his men to kill her. With him then lighting the guy that failed him on fire himself. Talen’s men go after Daria but are all dispatched, so Talen himself attempts to go after them but is easily taken out by Detective Rainer. It’s at this point Caddock shows up and easily kills Talen.
