Oh, indeed we will father. All hail the Omega.
~ Talia revealing her true colors while betraying Superman and the Omega Men.

Talia al Ghul is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Brainiac) of the DC Absolute Universe comic series, Absolute Superman.

She is the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, the CEO of Lazarus Corp, and posed as the leader of the Omega Men resistance group. Intending to aid her father in his global hegemonic plans, Talia manipulates the rebellion and destroys it from the inside, while attempting to, on her father's orders, manipulate the alien known as Kal-el, or Superman, into joining their side. She is also the detentor of a Father Box, hinting at a possible indirect connection with the creator of the Absolute Universe, Darkseid.

Apperance[]

Talia is a tall and muscular woman with long, black wavy hair and brown skin. Her main outfit consists of a full body, skin thight suit of cyan and grey colors. As Primus, she dons a mask that covers her entire face, though not her hair, and is donned with a shiny "omega" symbol.

Biography[]

Background[]

Talia is the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, and in league with her father's plans for humanity, acting as a high ranking member of the Lazarus Corp organization. At some point, she started to act with a secret identity as the leader of the Omega Men group, that defied Lazarus and promoted revolution against their corruption, thus making sure everything the group did was actually either beneficial or non-threatening to Lazarus' actions.

Absolute Superman[]

She first appears when Jimmy Olsen, who was stalking Lazarus agent Lois Lane, fails to properly convince the agent to accept the Omega Men verbally. Since he is mostly a pacifist, he asks Lois to take cover, as Talia, dressed in her "Omega Prime/Primus" suit, begins shooting at her. Talia slaps Olsen once Lane gets away, saying he had a clear shot and should've killed her. Jimmy says he thinks Lois just doesn't know she is on the wrong side, and soon shows her his footage of Superman, a person of interest for both Lazarus and the Omega Men.

Later, Talia helps save a fatally wounded Superman from Smallville, using a boom tube to take him to the Omega Men's base, though she uses her sword to keep Lois Lane away when she tries coming too. At the surgery table, the Omega Men manage to remove two of the kryptonite bullets that is inside Superman's chest and Talia, using her Father Box, removes the third and final piece of kryptonite.

Over the next few days, Talia brings Superman to aid in multiple of the Omega Men missions. Unberknownst to him and anyone else, she is trying to get him to kill people during those misisons, which is important to her father's plan of having him as a "son" to help fulfill Lazarus' purpose in the world. She gets increasingly frustrated as he keeps abiding to his non lethal ways, culminating in a mission at Greenland, where she says Superman will have to kill Ra's al Ghul, "the most evil man in the world".

After a battle with Metallo that ends with the villain in the ground and Superman still refusing to kill him, even using his hand to stop a kryptonite bullet shot by Ra's al Ghul himself from hitting the man, Talia reveals her true colors, incapacitating Superman with a kryptonite sword. She quickly kick Lois Lane unconscious and murders most of her former subordinates at the Omega Men, revealing herself to be Ra's daughter and cooperator.

As Brainiac tortures Superman with simulations and attempts to make him a killer, Talia visits Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane's cells in order to beat both of them, or at the very least Lois, and taunt them with the knowledge that once "perfected", Superman's first action will be to kill both of them. As General Lane invades Lazarus to break his daughter out, Talia goes find the group, that detoured to free Superman, and kills General Lane with a knife to the brain. As Lois swears she'll get revenge on Talia for that, Superman finally gets free from the simulation, brutally destroying Brainiac's equipment and a big part of the room.

Trivia[]

  • Talia al Ghul is, traditionally and foremost, a Batman villain, as is her father. It is unknown why they were made into enemies for Superman in the Absolute Universe.
    • However, Talia's role as a combat proficient female right hand to the head of a coorporation that opposes Superman, makes this version of Talia greatly reminescent of Mercy Graves, a Superman villain and the bodyguard of Lex Luthor, the hero's primary archenemy.
  • The character's identity as Talia al Ghul was greatly theorized by fans, due to the close relations to Ra's al Ghul and the Lazarus lore of the DC Univers. When the character was revealed as being darker skinned, this theory grew even more. It was eventually revealed to be correct in the tenth issue of the comic, although this interation of the character being fully in league with her father's villainous plans wasn't as guessed, with most believing her role as opposer to Lazarus Corp was geniune.
