History of the CD-I console
Nintendo was working with Philips to produce a CD based add-on to the Super Nintendo which never happend. Nintendo had also previously worked with Sony on the same thing which had the same fate. Because of this, both Philips and Sony developed their own consoles. Sony gave us the Playstation, which is now one of the main rivals of Nintendo, along with the XBox and the upcoming Ouya. Philips developed the CD-I, but were given permission to use Nintendo characters in their games, which produced Hotel Mario, Link: the Faces od Evil, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, and Zelda's Adventure.
