I've noticed that this article was the exact copy of Giygas' page on Earthbound wiki so I rewrote it to make a difference. Balthus Dire 12:34, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Balthus Dire. Plagiarism is indeed starting to become a problem on the wiki (if one would call it a bad thing, that is). Amnesty 14:27, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
You're welcome. I hope adding him to the "Lovecraftian Horrors" was not too far-fetched. Balthus Dire 14:58, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
Lovecraftian Horrors are any style of alien or demon that focus on mind-shatteringly bizzare and/or powerful - technically they should be amoral as Lovecraft hated people using "good" and "evil" to describe his work (he was kind of odd in that sense) but many of the later writers of Lovecraft added "good" and "evil" regardless.. Cosmic Horror began before Lovecraft though, his work was inspired by Poe and so forth and most of the mythos we know today was written by multiple authors (a shared universe).. so anything that fits the bill of "alien monstrosity of great power and/or mind-shattering qualities" can be considered Lovecraftian these days (films like Poltergeist and Amityvile Horror are also kind of Lovecraftian - as they focus on psychology rather than gore) Inferno Pendragon 17:19, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
the amoral nature of Lovecraft was always a central theme to his work, the inclusion of "good" and "evil" detracted from the horror and misery he envisioned... however this is a talkpage about Giygas so I'd say this article has improved greatly and don't worry: Giygas is most definitely a Lovecraftian Horror in concept and design (Porky Minch is pretty terrifying as well but for different reasons) Pietus 19:30, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
