True Main Villain[]
Just like General Hux, Grand Moff Tarkin is the true main antagonist in the Star Wars films 4 and 7. Tarkin deserved to be blown up in that Death Star explosion.
And the problem with him being the secondary antagonist is that Darth Vader is not a Complete Monster, as he redeemed himself by killing Palpatine.

Darth Vader did more stuff in context to the plot. He captured Leia, killed Obi-Wan, was stated to have betrayed and murdered Luke's father (until Empire Strikes Back came out) and then he tried to shoot down and kill Luke while he was going to destroy the Death Star. Fallen Hero[]
It took me almost a year to realize how exactly Tarkin is a fallen hero. He was a Republic captain before he was captured and then promoted to admiral and after the Galactic Republic turned into the Galactic Empire he was promoted from a mere Moff to a Grand Moff.
