~ The Talking Toilets' catchphrase. |
The Talking Toilets are the titular main antagonists of the 1999 children's book Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets, the second installment in the Captain Underpants book series, and are minor antagonists in its film adaptation.
They are a group of man-eating toilets that are led by the Turbo Toilet 2000.
They were all voiced in the film adaptation by an uncredited Frank Welker.
History[]
Book[]
The toilets first appeared in a comic George and Harold made with the same title as the book. On a normal day of school, a U.F.O. zapped the school with ray and made all its toilets come to life and turn evil and hungry. After eating the gym teacher and scratching someone's car, the principal and kids called for Captain Underpants. The hero put plungers from the storeroom in all the toilets to have their toilets get stuck and then defeated the Turbo Toilet 2000 by sending it crashing into its U.F.O.
George and Harold wanted to make copies of the comics, but the only copy machine was surrounded by the teachers who would suspend them if they caught them. They decided to use the PATSY 2000, built by Melvin Sneedly, in the gym. Sneedly said that any 2D image would become a 3D image and even demonstrated it with a mouse, but George and Harold thought he was fooling them. Unfortunately, they thought wrong, as the machine made many evil toilets just like in their comic. The Talking Toilets succeed in devouring all the teachers except Mr. Krupp, who becomes Captain Underpants thanks to Miss Ribble. Our hero defends the boys against the Talking Toilets.
They are outnumbered until Captain Underpants, George, and Harold discover a pot of creamed chipped beef in the school cafeteria. They fire the beef into the Talking Toilets' hungry mouths, causing them to get sick and throw up all of the teachers. Subsequently, they succumbed and died.
Their corpses were later taken and deposited at Uranus by the Robo-Plunger.
Film[]
Following Professor Poopypants' defeat, the toxic waste from the deceased Turbo Toilet 2000 brought all of the town's toilets to life, bent on destroying the town and devouring everyone. The Talking Toilets are first seen attacking a restaurant where Mr. Krupp and the school lunch lady Edith are dining at.
Upon snapping his own fingers after seeing the Talking Toilets, Krupp transforms himself into Captain Underpants and helps George and Harold in fighting off the Talking Toilets for good, much to Edith's surprise and admiration.
Trivia[]
- They were inspirated by a comic book Dav Pilkey made in 1975 when he was in third grade. The story was titled Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilet, there was only one. It was brought to life by an evil scientist who tried to flush down a potion that brought things to life.
- Their catchphrase, as mentioned above, is more well-known from the Little Rascals movie, The Kid from Borneo. Maybe not so coincidentally, George and Harold's last names come from two actors from the series, Matthew Beard and Bobby Hutchins. They played Stymie and Wheezer, Dav Pilkey's two favorite characters.
- Mr. Fyde was one of the teachers who got eaten by a talking toilet, he (and presumably everyone else) thought it was just a dream. Nonetheless, this was a factor of Fyde quitting the school leading to Professor Poopypants becoming a teacher there.
- In The Terrifying Re-Turn of Tippy Tinkletrousers, Tinkletrousers travels back in time and causing Mr. Krupp to lose his job as school principal. As a result, he was never turned into Captain Underpants and Dr. Diaper was consumed by the Talking Toilets (and possibly the Turbo Toilet 2000 himself) subsequent to his assault on the city and destruction of the moon. Before the Evil Zombie Nerds murdered the Talking Toilets, it is probable that the Turbo Toilet 2000 and his troops devoured a significant number of individuals, given the abundance of decomposing toilets strewn across the devastated world.
