Tamiel was an antagonist in Supernatural season ten and he was a very powerful Grigori, an angel unit that had gone from protectors of humanity to wreakers of havoc, and they found humans ridiculous and lower than them. he was portrayed by Treva Etienne
Personality[]
Tamiel was like most angels, looking down on humanity but also expressing resentment to his fellow angels. He took delight in sadistically taunting his victims, such as laughing at Claire cradling her dying mother.
History[]
Tamiel was of the Grigori, one of the most powerful and high-ranking angels. He had existed for millennia and was part of the Watcher angel unit to ever walk Earth. Eventually, the Grigori went rogue and began to feed on human souls. This resulted in Heaven hunting them down, resulting presumed extinction of their race but unknown to Heaven, several of the Grigori survived and lived on.
Tamiel was among the many survivors and took on many names in the centuries that passed, gaining power from feeding off human souls while keeping himself hidden. He became a healer, as a way to scope out his victims. At one point, he healed a blind man named Ronnie and tasked him with bringing people for him to heal when really he was holding them hostage after trapping them in imaginary heavens.
Amelia Novak had been lured to him, because she was emotionally damaged after her husband Jimmy became Castiel's vessel and left her, and she went to what she believed was a faith healer for healing. However, the exact opposite happened, and Tamiel trapped her and fed off her soul, while keeping her locked away in her own mind.
Claire Novak, Jimmy and Amelia's daughter, was tracking her mother. She called Castiel, Tamiel's brother who was possessing her dead father, and he along with the Winchesters help her find Amelia. They find Tamiel's spotter Ronnie and he gives up info on him. However, Ronnie attempted to warn Tamiel but the latter was aware that the Winchesters were hunters and he killed Ronnie for being a loose end.
When his barn was found, Tamiel abducted Sam Winchester and gave his history. Tamiel voiced his anger at the loss of his brothers, being forced to watch over humans, and disgust by what he deemed were failures of angels. He soon left Sam who broke free and met up with Dean and Castiel who was updated on the survival of the Grigori. Castiel realizes that the victims in the barn were fed on and deeming Tamiel an “Abomination” ask where he went. Sam had no clue but the group soon deduced that he was going back to feed.
Much later, Claire Novak found Amelia almost weakened to death. Tamiel appeared and attacked both of them, when Claire shot Tamiel several times, Tamiel just sneered. He then attacked them by beating up Claire yet Amelia rushed in front of his sword, impaling herself and dying (however, she was reunited with her husband in Heaven.) Tamiel moved to finish Claire but was attacked by Castiel and the Winchesters. During the brawl, he proved far more powerful than Castiel, throwing Castiel across the room when he tried to intervene. Dean, who had the Mark of Cain was able to hold his ground for moments only to be overpowered.
Castiel tried to attack Tamiel again but was defeated and Tamiel tried to stab Castiel, but Claire used Tamiel's sword and stabbed him from behind, avenging her mother and ending his killing spree.
