The Tan Republic is a powerful nation and military dictatorship in the Plastic World and the main antagonist faction in the Army Men series of video games on the 3DO. They are depicted as a militaristic and fascistic regime that seeks to dominate all other nations in the Plastic World and initiate the plot of the series by launching an invasion of Green Nation's territories.
They are usually seen being led by General Plastro, though others have also taken up leadership of the nation, such as Major Mylar or Lord Malice.
History[]
Army Men[]
In the first game, the Tans launch an invasion of Green Nation's territories. However, under the leadership of Sarge, the Greens are able to push back the Tan forces and triumph.
In the sequel, General Plastro is usurped by Major Mylar as leader of the Tans. However, by the end of the game, Mylar is defeated by the Greens and Plastro has regained control.
Army Men: Toys In Space[]
In Army Men: Toys In Space, the Tans form an alliance with the Space Aliens when they arrive. Eventually though, the aliens are defeated by the combined forces of the Greens and the Galactic Army and the Tans are left with only a small number of soldiers and a tank.
Army Men: Sarge's Heroes[]
Under the leadership of General Plastro, the Tans again go to war with the Greens. However, the Tans are defeated once again and Plastro is left plastered in the Real World, allowing Field Marshal Tannenburg to take control in the sequel. However, Plastro is deplastrified by Bridgette Bleu, a spy from the Blue Nation and returns to take command of the Tan Republic and lead them to victory against the Greens. Once again, the Tans are defeated and Plastro winds up being forced to sign a peace treaty.
Army Men: RTS[]
A Green colonel named Colonel Blintz defected and joining the Tans, melting into scrap any of his troops who refused to join with him. Blintz later led a Tan attack against the Greens, but both himself and his army were defeated.
Army Men: Sarge's War[]
While the Tan Republic and Green Nation were able to come to a peace agreement, not all were happy. A faction of Tans under the leadership of Lord Malice planted a bomb at the signing of the peace treaty and detonated it, killing most of the Green and Tan leaders. Sarge had heard about the plot, but arrived too late to stop it. Sarge eventually decided to go on a quest to get revenge against Malice and his Tans.
