Tankard is a legal attorney for George Warleggan, as well as his henchman and informant. He is the secondary antagonist of the second season of Poldark (2015).
He was portrayed by Sebastian Armesto.
Biography[]
Not much is known of his life prior to the series. However, he had long been the Warleggan's legal advisor, and was dispatched by George to gather incriminating evidence against Ross Poldark during his trial. Tankard and George collaborated to prove Ross guilty and have him hanged for his crimes, but Ross was later found innocent, much to George's chagrin.
Tankard later became George's representative for shareholder meetings in Wheal Leisure, attending the meetings and reporting back news and information to George, which the latter would use to further work against Ross. Eventually, George himself attended the meetings in Tankard's stead, fully driving Ross out from his original enterprise (though it did serve as a foundation for Wheal Grace, which was completely free of George's influence). He would also attempt to seduce Demelza at the behest of George, as well as fight for George during the riot at Trenwith.
It is unknown what became of him after the second season, as he has not appeared since.
