Oh, that's easy. We're the good guys.
~ Slade while torturing Leslie Willis

Task Force X are the secondary antagonists of the 2023 animated series My Adventures with Superman.

They are a secret government organization that was founded after Zero Day, where a Kryptonian ship, led by Nemesis Omega attacked Earth. They work with another organization called Checkmate.

History[]

22 years ago, Nemesis Omega attacked Earth, unaware the rest of the Kryptonian Empire were dealing with Brainiac at the Time. Nemesis Omega's forces, the OMAC drones, effortlessly decimated the US army. After Nemesis Omega retreated, Sam Lane and Amanda Waller, two generals of the army, began to reverse engineer the leftover technology. After years of extensive testing, they began to expand their operations. One location was Area 52, a Cadmus funded lab which they destroyed after failing to produce the desired results.

Season 1[]

A black-market arms dealer named Leslie Willis had stolen several pieces of their reverse engineered tech, keeping an electric generating weapon for herself. Her attacks on Metropolis would start the superhero career of Clark Kent, who would take the name Superman. Noticing the similarities between him and the invasion force, Task Force X made it their mission to track and study the hero, fearing him to be a scout for another invasion force. Over time, several other villains attempted to fight Superman and lose. One of these was Anthony Ivo, a local tech mogul who was designing weapons for Task Force X, including the Parasite armor.

Eventually, their operative, Slade Wilson, led a team of kidnapped Supervillains to fight and capture Superman. Successful, General Lane personally oversaw the interrogation. During the time, Lane expressed doubts that Superman was involved with the invasion, as he would have been a baby at the time. Seeing her comrade's faith waiver, Amanda Waller organized a mass prison break, intent on replacing Lane as leader. During their escape, Ivo lost control of his armor growing to gigantic sizes. The people of Metropolis then shut off the power, helping Superman stop Ivo's rampage.

Season 2[]

Slade and new operative Damage would attack the ship Clark came in, where a digital copy of his father Jor-El, explained the events surrounding his arrival and the events of Zero Day. While failling in capturing Superman, Slade did get a sample of kryptonite.

Sam Lane would go missing, prompting a rescue from Superman and Lois. The two discovered Task Force X had built a secret lab/prison under Stryker's Island Penitentiary. The duo finds Lane, and several captured humans, leading to a fight with another operative, the Atomic Skull. Leading a mass prison break, they successfully escape with the help of Jimmy and Ron Troupe. While Waller is being chewed out by her superiors, Ivo attempts to attack her, only to be stopped by his assistant, Alex, who calls himself Lex, and offers to be partners.

Lex would use his newly created company LexCorp to buy out AmerTek, a local lab that had almost destroyed the city with its unstable core reactor. Lex would add their robotic drones, Metallos, to the forces of Task Force X.

Lex would convince the government, STAR Labs, and Lois's old friend, Hank Henshaw, that Superman is a threat to the people of Earth after he fought Atomic Skull.

On a TV set, Amanda Waller has declared Superman to be an enemy of humanity. To protect Metropolis, she has announced the formation of the Human Defense Corps and that Metropolis will be placed under martial law. When Superman and his kind return, humanity will be ready. Later, at an interview, Waller gets questioned by the host for her decision to brand Superman as an enemy of humanity when he was defending Metropolis from a hostile invader, but Waller says that this attack would have never happened if it wasn't for Superman. Even when the host provides footage that depicts Superman protecting bystanders, Waller ends the interview and orders the host to be put into custody.

Later in STAR Labs, the Task Force X is conducting a surprise inspection of Lex's latest project. Slade teases Lex about not making any real progress on his project, but Lex argues that he needs time to reverse-engineer alien technology.

Once the team formed by Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Livewire, Brain and Monseiur Mallah has broken into the lab, Mallah and the Brain are interested in finding a new component for their latest invention: a new portal machine. Suddenly, they are attacked by armed guards and forced to separate. Lois and Jimmy escape into the ventilation shafts while still arguing about what should they do once they find Kara. Jimmy still believes they should give Kara a chance because Lois gave a Clark a chance. They find the spaceship but it's not properly assembled. Lois begins to cry and berates herself for trying to push Clark away when he was nothing to but nice to her. Fortunately, Mallah and the Brain complete construction of the ship. Once they board it, they are attacked by the Metallos rebuilt by Lex, and when the ship takes off, the Metallos grab it and prevent it from flying out of the lab.

Luckily, help arrives in the form of Livewire and her crew, including Heatwave. As they're fighting the Metallos, Livewire's crew was busy stealing everything valuable from S.T.A.R. Labs and Livewire was actually planning to abandon Lois and Jimmy, until she heard Lois cry about her desire to make things right with Clark. She tells Lois that love is not for cowards and if she genuinely loves someone, she should prove it. The ship blasts off into space, while Livewire's crew escapes on a van.

The Metallos have been destroyed and Slade is about to tease Lex for this apparent failure, but Waller treats this deployment as a success. For that, she will grant Lex whatever resources he needs to complete his project and Lex can't help but tease Slade about his success, especially when Waller orders Slade to perform cleanup.

Later, the ship carrying Jimmy and Kara has returned to Earth. To warn the people, Jimmy starts a broadcast on the Flamebird channel while Kara has idea on how to defeat Brainiac especially now that he has taken control of Superman's body. Their ship is shut down by the Human Defense Corps, but Mallah and the Brain escape. Kara saves Jimmy before he hits the ground until she is weakened by Kryptonite held by Amanda Waller who has ordered their arrest and ignores Jimmy's warnings about an alien threat coming to Earth.

Waller's convoy is intercepted by a news crew, led by Perry White and Vicki Vale, who are not happy that that Waller arrested a member of the free press and violated the Fourth Amendment. Steve Lombard takes the opportunity to sneak into Waller's truck and free Jimmy, Kara and the unconscious Lois from imprisonment. Unfortunately, Kandor teleports right above Metropolis and Brainiac begins his assault.

Meanwhile, Brainiac gives the people of Earth a choice: join the Empire or be destroyed. Waller's forces hit with everything they've got but Brainiac is unharmed. Even the combined strength of Deathstroke, Damage and Atomic Skull fails to stop Brainiac, and the only one who can even harm him is Kara. Brainiac warns the people of Earth will not love her even if she sacrifices her life for them, but Kara promises to stop Brainiac at all costs. Waller orders Lex Luthor to activate the Metallos and their Kryptonite power cores.

Once Brainiac is forced to return to his original body. Angry that his plan has been foiled, Brainiac attacks with even greater ferocity. He covers Kandor with anti-Kryptonite shielding, Superman, having acquired a new suit. Kara is shocked as his return but then regains her composer and admits to Superman being right about everything and joins him in defending Metropolis against Brainiac who she no longer sees as her father, when they try to stop him, he seizes control of the Metallos, When they leave, an enraged Waller asks Lex to explain himself, but he finds himself unable to regain control of the robot army, uses the Kryptonite-powered Metallos to shoot them while he prepares Kandor's main weapon, the Archer beam, to destroy Metropolis.

Without the Metallo army, Lex is forced to fall back with Waller and, after many unsuccessful attempts to shut the robots down, Lex abandons Waller and runs away from the battle. Waller would attempt to protect the planet from the Metallos without Lex. When one of the Metallos tries to shoot him, Sam Lane saves him and gives him an Omega Cannon to use against the Metallos. After Brainiac's defeat, it was revealed a warrant was placed for her arrest, and she is presently at large. And Task Force X is officially disbanded.
