Biography[]
Allied Campaign[]
In the Allied Campaign, Tatsu remains on the sidelines until the Allied-Soviet attack on their Floating Fortress in the North Sea, sending whatever forces he could to help defend it, only for the effort to be in vain when the Allies and Soviets destroy the Floating Fortress by overloading its power cores simultaneously, leading to its destruction.
“ | Looks like your friends have deserted you. Maybe they can see that you've already lost. | „ |
~ Tatsu before decimating the Allied bases with the Psionic Decimators |
When the Allies launch their assault on Tokyo itself to eliminate the vital structures supporting the Imperial war effort in the Shirada Docks, Nagama Dojos, Tenzai Robotics, Toyama High Command, and the Imperial Superweapons in the Psionic Decimators and Nanoswarm Hive, they initially hoped the Soviets would be joining them. However, after destroying the Imperial naval blockade preventing entry into Tokyo Harbor, Premier Cherdenko and General Krukov apologized as the Red Navy was too far away to help, leaving the Allies on their own. Tatsu, seeing this, gloats to the Allies that the Soviets left them high and dry under the belief they would not be able to defeat the Empire, and unleashes the Psionic Decimators on the Allied bases, ravaging them, leaving only their Construction Yards/MCVs left among the ashes.
“ | You primitive gaijin! How dare you attack Tokyo! | „ |
~ Tatsu as his elite Imperial Navy forces arrive to protect Tokyo from the Allies |
Nevertheless, the Allies recuperate, use the Chronosphere to transport one MCV across to the other side of the city to flank the Imperial forces, and continue their objective to destroy the vital Imperial structures. Angered by this, Tatsu sends his elite Imperial naval forces to protect the Japanese capital, including Sea Wings, Naginata Cruisers, and Shogun Battleships. His efforts prove to be in vain, as the vital structures are destroyed, and the Empire is forced to suffer the humiliation of surrender to the Allies.
Soviet Campaign[]
Following the Imperial invasion of the USSR, Tatsu had personally built a palace in the Soviet city of Vladivostok to oversee Imperial operations in Eastern Russia. When the Soviets moved to take back their city and destroy the heretical structure that was a scourge to their own building style, Tatsu attempted to defend his palace with a Nanoswarm Hive activation and Final Squadron kamikaze drones, while sending King Oni battle walkers and Force-Weapon Artillery to take out the Soviet ground forces, but his efforts were in vain, and the palace was destroyed, forcing him to retreat.
It is only later he arrives too late to help his father and the Imperial commanders in Shinzo, Naomi, and Kenji when the Soviets attack the Imperial Palace at Mt. Fuji in Japan itself as the Soviets overrun and destroy Shinzo, Naomi, and Kenji's Imperial VIP Bunkers, before then attacking the palace, forcing the Emperor to emerge piloting his Greater King Oni battle walker to engage the Soviets himself, only to be swiftly cut down by the Soviet Apocalypse Tanks and Kirov Airships. Tatsu is horrified at the death of his father and calls the Soviets out on acting so dishonorably and savagely. With the loss of Emperor Yoshiro, Shinzo, Kenji, and Naomi, Tatsu is forced to surrender the Empire to the Soviet jackboot.
Imperial Campaign[]
At the start of the Imperial Campaign, Tatsu acquiesces to his father's orders when attacking the Soviet Union and destroying many of their precious statues to demoralize them, but then has the ultimate weapon of the Empire, the Shogun Executioner, unleashed on Odessa, Ukraine, to take out the forces of Commander Moskvin and General Krukov. However, the General and Commander escape for the time being, and Tatsu later reports to his father that the Allies, rather than surrendering after hearing the Emperor's ultimatum, are mobilizing to attack the Imperial base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Tatsu convinces his father to mobilize to protect the harbor, but is later reprimanded by Yoshiro when he tells Tatsu that the Allies had snuck a larger invasion force past Pearl Harbor and are heading straight for Tokyo. The Black Tortoise Floating Fortress stands as the only defense the Japanese home islands have against the Allied invasion, and if the Black Tortoise falls, Tokyo is sure to follow. Thus, Tatsu sends forces to defend the Black Tortoise, and once the Floating Fortress is safe, it is used to retaliate against the Allies by attacking Los Angeles and Santa Monica so the Empire can use their own propaganda equipment to demoralize the Allies.
However, Tatsu and his father later learn through their android replica of U.S. President Ackerman during a meeting with Field Marshall Bingham and Soviet scientist Doctor Gregor Zelinsky of the Soviet Time Machine that was used to alter the past and thus create the Empire in the present. Horrified that the Empire's Divine Destiny was created due to altering of the space-time continuum, the Emperor is aghast and realizes Tatsu was right regarding eliminating every last Allied and Soviet soldier when they had the chance. Apologizing to his son, the Emperor relinquishes his katana, symbol of the leader of the Imperial Shogunate, and hands it to Tatsu, granting him full authority over the Shogunate and pleading for him to not let the Empire fall to the joint Allied-Soviet alliance.
After the Allies and Soviets, led by Lisette and Krukov respectively, are routed from Yokohama, Tatsu sends the Shogun Executioner, along with support from Kenji and the unnamed Imperial Commander, to take out Premier Cherdenko and Krukov in Moscow, along with destroying their time machine to prevent them from altering the past again and erasing the Empire from the current present. Once the Premier and General are killed, and the time machine destroyed, Tatsu and his father then send the full bulk of the Imperial Army, Navy, and Air Force to attack Amsterdam, where the Allied High Command and their FutureTech main lab was located. Despite Zelinsky arriving with what was left of the Soviet Armed Forces to help Bingham, Warren, and the Allies, the Imperial war machine is able to rampage through Amsterdam until they started to level the FutureTech lab. At that point, Zelinsky unleashes a prototype ultimate weapon that ravages Amsterdam and wipes out any last Allied, Soviet, or Imperial forces in the city in a desperate bid to stop them. Despite that, the most elite of the Imperial forces in King Oni, Rocket Angels, and Mecha/Jet Tengu, including a sleeper unit of Imperial Tankbusters and Final Squadron Omega kamikaze drones survived to take out the FutureTech lab as Zelinsky screams in frustration before the lab is obliterated. With the lab and the last of the Allied and Soviet forces decimated, King Onis began marking their territory to show the planet was now under the control of the Empire of the Rising Sun as they cut down Allied flags and replaced them with the Imperial standard.
Back in Tokyo, the unnamed commander who led the Empire to victory with the support of Shinzo, Naomi, and Kenji is given a hero's welcome by the Emperor and Crown Prince, who award the commander the title of "Supreme Shogun" as thanks for their efforts.
