Tatsunaga(人食い火竜,Man-Eating Fire Dragon in japanese) is a minor antagonist in Dragon Quest XI.
A long time ago, Tatsunaga has attacked the village Hotto. However, Miko the witch and her son Ryu go to the dragon's hideout and defeated it. However, Ryu received a curse from the dragon. And cause him to transform into Tatsunaga. Miko than bring her dragonic son back to Tatsunaga's hideout and lies to the villagers that Ryu was killed and had villagers to offer sacrifices, which are crops to the dragon. However, thanks to Tyriant, they are unable to grow crops without light. And Miko started to sacrifice the villagers, but was stopped by the villagers'kids. Tatsunaga than attacked Hotto, and Miko was devoured together with the Mirror of Ray by the dragon as she prevented the villagers from attacking her 'son'. The Luminary than attacked the dragon and forces it to retreat. The Luminary than go to its hideout and defeated it. With Tatsunaga weakened, the Mirror of Ray turns Tatsunaga back to Ryu, who shortly dies afterwards as he has been a dragon for too long.
Tatsunaga is a furry red dragon that resembles a flying wolf.
- Tatsunaga'movement is based on Orochi from Dragon Quest III,as they appear in location that based on Japan,demanding human sacrifices,encounter by the hero twice,and kill the human leader in their'home series,respectively.
- The different is,however,while it is Ryu,Miko'son unwilling to be the dragon because of curse,Orochi kill Pimiko in order to take her place as Queen,and never related with her,Ryu'battle place is village first,later inside the volcano,Orochi were in reverse order.
