Boss Tau Zant is the leader of the Jakanja and the main antagonist of Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger. He is a centipede-like alien who seeks to invoke the Evil Will to destroy the universe and create a new one with him as ruler.
Tau Zant is a sinister and ruthless terrorist and the archenemy of the Hurricanegers and Gouraigers. Throughout the season, he tried multiple plans and schemes to invoke the Evil Will to destroy and recreate the universe, but Hurricanegers constantly fought to stop his plans. He is the master of the Seven Dark Spears, whom he gathered across all of the universe and who serve as his elite henchmen and generals. Tau Zant is also the former master of the Gouraigers, whom he recruited from the Ikazuchi's Way Academy. The Gouraigers initially served Tau Zant and helped him fight the Hurricanegers, but then they betrayed the evil alien warlord and redeemed themselves by joining the Hurricanegers and helping them to defeat him. In the finale of the series, Tau Zant merged with Evil Will and fought the Hurricanegers himself.
He is voiced by the late Kiyoyuki Yanada, who also voiced Yogostein and Yogoshimacritein in Engine Sentai Go-onger.
Biography[]
500 years prior to the start of the series, Tau Zant learned of the Evil Will and its power to destroy and recreate the universe. Seeking to invoke this so he could emerge as god of the newly-created one, Tau Zant founded the Jakanja and gathered ninjas from all across the galaxy to form the Seven Darkness Spears, an elite team of specialized ninja art practitioners to help him realize this goal.
To this end, Tau Zant sent probes to the far corners of the universe to search for the materials necessary to enact his plan. After one of the probe's landed on Earth and activated, sending a signal back to the Jakanja, Tau Zant and five of the Dark Spears headed to Earth in Parasite Fortress Centipede. To remove any obstacles in their path, Tau Zant ordered the elimination of both the Hayate's Way Ninja Academy and the Ikazuchi's Way Ninja Academy, before having the Jakanja commence their invasion.
Later, Tau Zant recruited the two surviving members of Ikazuchi's Way, the Gouraigers, into the Jakanja, secretly planning to have them kill each other in order to invoke the Evil Will. Throughout the season, Tau Zant tried and used multiple schemes and plans of invoking the Evil Will to achieve the universal domination, but Hurricanegers always foiled his plans. Later, after Gouraigers realized that Tau Zant used them, they betrayed him and joined the Hurricanegers and started helping their friends to fight Jakanja. Though this plan failed, Tau Zant learned of another way to invoke the Evil Will through his subordinate Manmaruba, the Raging Arrow and Grieving Bow. After Sargain completed the means for the Jakanja to use the Raging Arrow, Tau Zant had Sandaaru kill him in secret, no longer having a use for him.
After obtaining both the items, Tau Zant learned from the Evil Will how to use the two to create a wormhole capable of annihilating the entire universe. To assume a more suitable form to wield both of them, Tau Zant ordered Satarakura to gather energy of anger and sadness from the people of Earth with the Jyakumu Gun so he could use it. After the Hurricanegers, Gouraigers and Shurikenger interfered with Satarakura's task, Tau Zant chose to attach the energy-storing device to Satarakura's arm. However, Satarakura soon began using the energy for himself, prompting Tau Zant to send Sandaaru to go retrieve the energy from him.
After Sandaaru brought back the sack of energy, Tau Zant absorbed it and assumed his Ultimate Form. The Hurricanegers and Gouraigers broke into Parasite Fortress Centipede to stop him, but were too late. The transformation process resulted in the Centipede being destroyed as Tau Zant emerged from it giant-sized, in his Ultimate Form. Tau Zant then used the Grieving Bow to fire the Raging Arrow and create a wormhole to the Evil Will's dimension, allowing it to begin the process of destroying and remaking the universe.
However, anticipating that Tau Zant would eventually dispose of him as well, Sandaaru attacked Tau Zant and struck his weak spot in between his eyes, fatally wounding him and causing him to fall into the ocean. Despite this, this was not the end of Tau Zant.
Tau Zant was later sucked into the wormhole and brought back by the Evil Will to fight the Hurricanegers. Piloting Senpuujin, the Hurricanegers were able to defeat Tau Zant, but the Evil Will emerged from him and summoned the Seven Dark Spears to fight the Hurricanegers again. After the Seven Dark Spears were vanquished, the Evil Will reformed and brought back Tau Zant again, merging with him to take on the Hurricanegers. Tau Zant was finally destroyed by the Hurricanegers and the Gouraigers using the Victory Gadget together to blast him, vanquishing both Tau Zant and the Evil Will forever.
Personality[]
Tau Zant is serious, ruthless, cold, scheming, calculating, and power-hungry mastermind, obsessed with utter universal domination. He is completely arrogant, egomaniacal and power-hungry and his ultimate dream is to find and invoke the Evil Will and use its power to destroy and recreate the universe in his image and then emerge as a god of the newly recreated universe. He views himself as an unequal mastermind and dreams to unite with Evil Will to commit the universal destruction and recreate the entire universe and then rule the universe as a god with all of existence at his command. He is highly calculating, intelligent and scheming, always creates his plans with high accuracy and many steps. One of his most cunning plans was when he kidnapped the two surviving students of Ikazuchi's Way Ninja Academy, the Gouraigers, and forced them to join his Jakanja army and serve him. He is also highly abusive, careless and treacherous and is devoid of compassion towards everyone. He doesn't care about his own comrades Jakanja and is willing to sacrifice anyone of his army for his goals. The good example is when he betrayed Sargain ad ordered Sandaaru to kill him, just because Sargain was no longer needed, which was extremely unfair and treacherous, because Sargain was loyal to him and always loyally followed his orders. Ultimately, Tau Zant's arrogance was his main weakness because he underestimated his former minion Sandaaru and was betrayed and destroyed by him. He also underestimated the Hurricanegers and was eventually defeated by the heroes.
Powers and Abilities[]
Being the leader of Jakanja and the main antagonist of the series, Tau Zant is the most powerful enemy the Hurricanegers ever faced ad possesses numerous abilities. He showed that he is able to best both Hurricaneger teams with ease.

- Power: Tau Zant is extremely powerful and surpasses. In strength anyone of his minions. He was powerful enough and able to beat all six Hurricanegers with ease.
- Low-Rank Ninjas Magerappa Summoning: Tau Zant can summon Magerappa foot soldiers to aid him in battle.
- Teleportation: Tau Zant can teleport to any location at will.
- Levitation: Tau Zant can also levitate in the air.
- Energy Lasers: Tau Zant can fire energy beams to attack his enemies in battle.
- Energy Blast: Tau Zant can also fire the white energy blast to attack his opponents.
- Superhuman Strength: Tau Zant is an extremely strong and is able to hold his own against full Hurricaneger team.
- Superhuman Durability: Tau Zant is also an extremely durable an os able to survive numerous hits and attacks from the Hurricanegers.
- Expert Fighter: Tau Zant is an extremely skilled fighter and is able to hold himself against all Hurricanegers together. He was more than a match for all Hurricaneger team in their final battle.
- High Intelligence: Tau Zant possess exceptional brilliant intelligence and is an excellent strategist and planner, he always plans his schemes with high calculations and accuracy, and is able to trick his enemies.
