| “ | Remember that world-changing battle with Omni-Man and Invincible a month ago? In most other dimensions, they teamed up and took over the planet. You're kidding?! And we're the bad guys? |
„ |
| ~ Angstrom Levy explaining the Evil Invincibles to the Mauler Twins. |
| “ | Los Angeles, Chicago and New York are almost completely leveled. Paris, Moscow, London, Tokyo, New Delhi, Seoul and Sydney have suffered similar damage. The death toll worldwide is already into the hundreds of thousands, with some analysts expecting it to triple in the coming days and weeks, not counting the heroes who gave their lives to save us. Rescue crews are working the clock, and good news is many survivors have been found amidst the wreckage. Officials report this remains very much a rescue operation. All of this still leaves us with the question, why? Why were we attacked? And what would drive someone, anyone, to do this? And why did the attackers all resemble Invincible? We’re all hoping to have answers, and we’re praying that those answers come soon. | „ |
| ~ A news anchor reporting on the damage and aftermath of the Invincible War. |
| “ | You're dangerous, ruthless ... evil in so many dimensions. I believe that says a lot about your nature ... It should concern you. | „ |
| ~ Angstrom Levy commenting on the nature of Mark Grayson. |
Team Evil Invincible, or the Alternate Mark Graysons, are the secondary antagonists of the Image Comics comic series Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name.
They are 20 evil alternate versions of the heroic Mark Grayson/Invincible, who had all fallen into villainy and became aligned with the Viltrum Empire for a variety of reasons: most typically related to Omni-Man, Atom Eve, their mother, and other factors. They are collectively responsible for Angstrom Levy's downfall to villainy, as their sadistic and tyrannical rule affected uncountable alternate versions of the man, causing him to reflect their trauma upon one of the only versions of Mark Grayson who was good. They were later approached by Angstrom himself to ruin the reputation of his home universe's Invincible in exchange of spreading their empires all over the multiverse.
Naturally, Levy did not fulfill his end of the deal and stranded the surviving Invincibles in a wasteland universe, where most of them would meet their doom at each other's hands. Notable variants such as Mohawk Invincible would eventually kidnap Angstrom and torture him, but both are murdered by Robot, who is able to trap the mainstream Mark Grayson in Mohawk Invincible’s dimension and take over mainstream Earth thanks to the consequences of Mohawk Invincible and Angstrom’s actions. Meanwhile, the Invincibles who had died in the mainstream universe were turned into ReAnimen by D.A. Sinclair and the GDA to help protect the world.
They are voiced by Steven Yeun, who also played A. Traveler in The Twilight Zone, Ricky "Jupe" Park in Nope and Danny Cho in Beef.
History[]
Background[]
A common attribute among most Mark Graysons is that they join alongside with their father to conquer the Earth for the Viltrum Empire. According to Angstrom Levy, this is due to a variety of reasons, ranging from mundane things like universes where morality is inverted, to more complex reasons, such as Omni-Man and the Viltrumites taking another approach on Earthly occupation and even the death of their respective Atom Eves.
Months after a near death experience following a mortiferous battle with the mainstream Invincible, Angstrom hatches a plan to fully ruin his reputation as payback for horrendously deforming him beyond recognition not once, but twice. He would look for evil versions of Invincible all across the multiverse, then recruit them to wreck the mainstream universe under the false promise of helping them expand their empire across dimensions.
Invincible War[]
"It's a start."
At least 20 of the Marks that Levy had approached accepted his offer. The group waited in Levy's headquarters as he spied on the mainstream Mark through his drones, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. After days of waiting, Levy finally gave the Marks the order to commence the invasion.
In just the very first day of the world-wide invasion, dubbed the Invincible War, the Alternate Marks split: some of them attacked Chicago in seek to somewhat please their personal vendettas in this new dimension that they couldn't achieve in their own, meanwhile some others took it upon themselves to attack the rest of the world, even coming face to face with the world's mightiest heroes and beyond after Cecil had called every superhero in the planet to respond to the threat.
The second day came with heavy losses in both sides of the War, including the likes of Rex Splode and Darkwing II in the side of humanity and Omni-Man II and Hood Invincible on the side of the Marks, however, despite their diminished numbers in comparison with Earth's forces, the Invincibles were still winning against humanity by a landslide. By this point in time, they had already leveled several major cities, with more in the way.
By the third day, only 8 Evil Invincibles remained alive. After completely demolishing several major cities all over the world, including New York, Moscow, and Paris, Levy concludes the first phase of his plan and calls for an immediate regroup over the Grayson's house. After giving the surviving Marks, the final request to bring them the mainstream Invincible, they refuse, arguing that they had already done everything on their end of the deal and that he needed to pay out for his reckless plan, which had reduced their numbers in half. Levy replies in disappointment and uses his drones to push the remaining Marks through his portals, stranding them in the Wasteland dimension.
Aftermath[]
| “ | So these are those alternate versions of me ... The ones Angstrom Levy brought here from other dimensions? They died in the battle ... and you had their bodies turned into ReAnimen? | „ |
| ~ Invincible's reaction to seeing the bodies of the dead Marks. |
The Marks who had died during the Invincible War had their bodies reused by the GDA into a stronger, more powerful version of the ReAnimen by D.A. Sinclair. Given their Viltrumite physiology, it was way more difficult to perform the required surgeries and cyborgization processes on them, so they were never major players in any operation, they were eventually destroyed and the ReAnimen project was shut down by Robot's more unified army, based on volanic elements, stronger than most viltrumites.
Meanwhile, the Stranded Marks had eventually become too desperate to find a way out, but their inexperience with space travel forced them to stay on the desolated remains of Earth. As the months flew by, one particularly sinister Invincible proposed that, in order to survive, they shouldn't help each other but instead eat each other to let the strongest one survive. The rest begrudgingly agreed to this proposal due to their combined hatred towards one Mark they had all dubbed as "the annoying one," and eventually they all ate each other except for two, Sinister Invincible and Mohawk Invincible. Eventually, they were both killed, leaving all members of Team Evil Invincibles dead.
However, the Maskvincible, was one of the few Invincibles not be shown as deceased, possibly surviving the wasteland world and fleeing in the cold abyss of space, and No Goggles Invincible's fate is considered ambiguous, as it was shown that Darkwing II survived the Invincible War and returned to Earth, indicating that Mark may still be living in the Shadowverse.

Corrupted Invincible[]
| “ | And if you still think you can stop us, don't forget: I'm ... Invincible. | „ |
| ~ Corruptible to humanity. |
This version of Invincible choose to side with his father and conquer earth. Serving as the introduction of Team Evil Invincible across the multiverse. This Invincible is not one of the ones recruited by Angstrom Levy.
Mohawk Invincible[]
| “ | It sickens me to even look at you. A lesser version of me — a pale reflection. I'll see your brains smeared across my knuckles before I bow down before you. | „ |
| ~ Mohawk Invincible to Invincible. |
Recognizable by his mohawk. He's a psychopathic version of Mark, who became the emperor of the Viltrum Empire on his universe. He was the only one of the 8 surviving Marks who escaped the wasteland dimension thanks to the help of the Mainstream Invincible.
Sinister Invincible[]
| “ | What I've lived through ... what I've had to do to survive. We're the same, you and me ... but I'm stronger. | „ |
| ~ Sinister to Invincible. |
The most evil and violent version of Mark. It's implied that he comes from a universe where everyone was a little more "sinister," as seen with his version of Duncan Rosenblatt, who is the king of all monsters. He was among the 8 surviving Marks who were sent to the wasteland dimension by Angstrom Levy, and it's implied that he was the one to suggest the idea of cannibalizing each other to survive.
Omni-Man II[]
| “ | I murdered my father! An adult Viltrumite — Do you really think you can hope to survive this?! | „ |
| ~ Omni-Man II to a group of super heroes. |
Wears a suit with his father's color scheme and claims to have murdered him. On the first day of the invasion, he fought with Shadowhawk and Madman and wildly underestimated their might, appearing dead by a broken neck on the second day. He was later turned into a ReAnimen.
In the animated series, he actually manages to survive the initial three days of the war and is among the eight surviving Alternate Marks.
Viltrumite Invincible[]
| “ | I've killed you before and I'll do it again! | „ |
| ~ Viltrumite Invincible to Spawn. |
A version of Invincible who wears the standard Viltrumite uniform. Claims to have "murdered" the Spawn of his universe and has survived an encounter with Invincible's universe version of him. He was among the 8 surviving Marks who got sent to the Wasteland dimension and apparently held on for his own long enough to be the last Mark to be eaten by Sinister Invincible.
Mustache Invincible[]
Seemingly an alternate version of the above Invincible. He was extremely similar to the one above, only that he donned the traditional Viltrumite mustache, as well as wearing the Viltrumite General uniform like General Kregg's. He was later killed during the war and turned into a ReAnimen by D.A. Sinclair.
Prisoner Invincible[]
| “ | After nearly a year in a Viltrumite prison — I could use this warm-up! Run! Flee! This is nothing compared to what I'm going to do to my father when I find him! | „ |
| ~ Prisonincible vowing revenge on Omni-Man to random Russians. |
A version of Invincible who wore the Viltrumite prisoner attire and very notably had severe burnt, veiny skin as well as black goggles. He was supposed to be a homage to Anakin Skywalker when he was burnt by lava. During the Invincible War, he would fly to Russia and lay waste to Moscow. He also appeared to hold a grudge against his father for unknown reasons but was assumed to be related to his past imprisonment. It is also unknown why Prisonincible's skin is burnt. He would be among the 8 surviving Marks who get sent to the Wasteland dimension and get can cannibalized off-screen.
Long Hair Invincible and Sport Invincible[]
| “ | Long Hair Invincible: I don't have one of these guys in my dimension. Sport Invincible: We don't either, but I recognize the technology. It's Geldarian.
|
„ |
| ~ The Marks discussing Tech Jacket. |
These two Marks teamed up to defeat Tech Jacket in outer space, though ultimately underestimated him because of not knowing of his true potential because of him not existing in their dimensions. After a brief altercation on Earth, Tech Jacket overloads his suit's battery, resulting in their violent death.
In the animated series, their role as the ones to fight Tech Jacket is given to Mustache Invincible, and they both die in different ways on Earth.
Gogglesvincible[]
| “ | So tell me — how are you going to kill me? What are you going to charge and explode? | „ |
| ~ Gogglesvincible's final words before Rex Splode effectively does that. |
This is a version of Invincible had a standard yellow, blue, and black suit with some differences like no kneepads and blue legs. His most notable costume feature was his big, Bulletproof-like goggles. He is widely known for being associated with the death of Rex Splode, who charged his own skeleton to kill Gogglesvincible but himself in the process.
Trivia[]
- Despite being established that there are only 16 of them, plenty more evil Invincibles make act of presence in issues following the Invincible War. This is likely a mistake by the colorists and/or artists.
- When the eight surviving Marks are sent to the Wasteland dimension, it is described by Mohawk Invincible that "the first one" was a jerk and got unanimously attacked by everyone. It is unclear which alternate Mark this "first one" could be.
- Given the advanced state of his decomposed body and his jerkish attitude during the war, fans theorize that Prisoner Invincible or Stripe Invincible was the first one to be eaten.
- Additionally, there are only five visible corpses in their reappearance in issue #104, totaling to seven while counting Mohawk Invincible and Sinister Invincible. This possibly indicates that the first one was completely devoured, as he had to serve as sustenance for seven different people.
