| ~ Ted Thompson |
Ted Thompson is one of the secondary antagonists in the 2006 video game Bully.
He is one of the most popular students at Bullworth Academy, serving as the confident and admired leader of the Jocks clique. As captain of the football team, Ted exudes natural charisma and embodies the athletic dominance that makes the Jocks the most socially powerful clique on campus. He believes firmly in a “survival of the fittest” philosophy, treating athletes as the rightful rulers of Bullworth while dismissing other cliques, especially the Nerds, as weak and irrelevant.
He is the (former) archenemy of Earnest Jones.
He was voiced by Alex Cendese.
Description[]
Appearance[]
Ted is one of the few mid-sized Jocks besides Bo. He has deep brown hair, striking blue eyes, and is often called "pretty-boy" by Jimmy. His usual outfit consists of dark gray school trousers, a partially buttoned Letterman jacket, and white athletic shoes with blue laces. When winter arrives, he adjusts his look by fully buttoning his jacket and swapping to beige school trousers. During the Complete Mayhem mission, he appears in his football jersey paired with his school slacks.
Personality[]
He is almost always seen with Damon by his side and is also dating Mandy. As the star quarterback and captain of the Bullworth Bullhorns football team, he holds jersey number 0 (which shouldn't be confused with Bo's 00). His talent on the field has earned him a personal trainer, and he often expects people to check in on him whenever he gets injured or loses a fight. He has a reputation for being overly focused on pursuing girls, often displaying misogynistic behavior. His school election campaign is a clear example of this, featuring banners with slogans like, "Don’t be a nerd, be a man, vote for Ted," alongside images of himself with Mandy and Christy. He even has future plans to pursue Ms. Philips once he graduates. His love for football is undeniable, as most of his conversations are littered with football-related phrases. His insults frequently mix sports references with crude jokes, such as, "Your mom catches my long bomb!" and, when fighting, "I’m penetrating your defense!" Despite his bravado, his idea of a legendary prank—having Jimmy defile the steps of town hall—suggests he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Despite leading the Jocks, the most dominant clique at Bullworth, Ted is surprisingly one of the weakest clique leaders in the game, second only to Earnest. With only 200 HP, he isn't as durable as his status might suggest. While he can still hold his own against most students, he stands little chance against stronger leaders like Derby, Johnny, or Edgar, and is completely outmatched by Russell. Damon, who is typically stronger in combat, occasionally undermines Ted behind his back, suggesting that the Jocks would have more respect if he were in charge. However, when Ted is around, Damon becomes subservient, often echoing whatever Ted says. It's likely that Ted holds his leadership position not because of his strength but simply due to his status as the team’s quarterback and captain. Justin seems eager to befriend Ted, even though they belong to different social circles. Ted also mockingly refers to Algie as his "little buddy." Interestingly, Ted shares the last name "Thompson" with Sheldon, but since they are of different ethnic backgrounds—and the soundboard later assigned Ted a different surname—it’s unlikely that they are actually related.
Biography[]
Ted is the leader of the Jocks clique, though he largely stays out of the spotlight during the game. He makes a few appearances in Chapter 1, starting with a scene in the Cafeteria where he watches Damon and Juri arm-wrestle. Later, he's seen practicing with the football team on the field and, again, in the audience with Damon and Mandy during Jimmy's confrontation with Russell. Ted runs for class president in Chapter 1, although his campaign is mostly seen through posters around the school rather than through direct involvement in the mission. He doesn't show up again until Chapter 4, when he and Damon bully Pete, knocking him down and stepping on him.
Ted largely stays in the background until Jimmy faces him in a showdown on the football field. He launches footballs rigged with explosives at Jimmy, but Jimmy turns the tables by throwing them back, using the blasts to take out Ted's linemen. With his defenders gone, Ted can't put up much resistance and is soon knocked out after Jimmy tackles or punches him.
In the mission Making a Mark, Ted tries to flatter Jimmy, complimenting his leadership of the school. He also proposes a bold prank idea, suggesting that Jimmy defecate on the steps of city hall. Later, Ted intervenes to stop Petey from talking to Jimmy about some personal issues. Gary eventually manipulates Ted and the Jocks into turning against Jimmy, though, unlike the other clique leaders, Ted doesn't appear in The Gym is Burning. During the riot that spreads across the school, Ted, alongside Damon and Bo, takes part in vandalizing the library.

Trivia[]
- He is very similar to Josh Daniels from Painting the Black as they are both jocks and also very similar in attitude and popularity. Additionally Ted shares his last name with Flash Thompson, a character from Marvel Comics who is most commonly associated with Spider-Man. Like Ted, Flash is a popular football player, a dominant figure on campus, and often a bully to the protagonist.
- Ted’s full name is also the same as that of Ted Thompson, a former NFL player and later an executive in the league. Since Ted Thompson isn’t widely known outside of football circles, it’s likely just a coincidence that the two share the same name.
- If enabled during free roam using a hex editor, Ted becomes as territorial as Damon, attacking either the Nerds or Jimmy (if Jimmy’s Jock respect is below 50%) near the fountain.
- Ted also has an unused fighting style in the game. This style allows him to use a unique block, defend against Jimmy’s unblockable attacks, recover more quickly from breaker attacks, and dodge projectiles. It seems that Ted tends to block more frequently than the other Jocks. A video showcasing this style can be found.
- During the boss battle with Ted, Jimmy is instructed to "Sack Ted" in order to defeat him and take control of the Jocks. In football, "sacking" refers to tackling the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage before they can pass the ball, which explains why Ted has low health during this fight in "The Big Game." In spite of leading the highest ranking gang, he ironically has the second lowest HP of all the leaders, only beating out Earnest himself.
