Tempest Drake was the 2nd member of the Weather Girls in the CW Television series Smallville.
She served as the secondary antagonist in the Season 7 episode "Fierce".
She was portrayed by Christine Chatelain, who also played Lacey Maxwell in Psych.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Tempest Drake was best friends with Tyler Crenshaw and Carly Meadows since kindergarten. In 2005, the three girls were caught in the second meteor shower that struck Earth. After a thunderstorm, Tempest's powers manifested and discovered she could control wind. Seeing an opportunity, Tempest and the girls toured through the Midwest and entered various competitions while secretly using their powers to steal valuables and goods including prize money.
Fierce[]
Tempest and her two friends then came to Smallville and entered the Miss Sweet Corn beauty pageant as a scheme to steal a map that led to buried treasure. The treasure was believed to be worth millions of dollars in gold bars and they needed the map which was held inside of a time capsule. Later, Tyler had killed Carly after finding out that she was going to betray them by stealing the treasure for herself.
The girls were preparing for the beauty contest when Tyler tells Tempest she had no choice but to kill Carly. Tempest was upset because she was her friend. Kara Kent was a contestant as well and asked the pair for help with her makeup but Tempest made a rude remark. Upset, Kara walked away past the frozen flower shop and found Carly dead.
At the Talon, the contestants were rehearsing when Jimmy Olsen was taking pictures then saw Tyler and Tempest heading into the back room and went after them. Tyler told Tempest to stick to the plan about participating in the pageant to hide their true motives.
Jimmy snapped a photo of them, and Tempest told Tyler to "do her thing". After seeing Kara save Jimmy with her superpowers, Tempest and Tyler approached her and asked for her help in getting the time capsule. They showed her a photo of the gold before it was hidden, and Kara saw a Kryptonian medallion amongst the treasure. Thinking she had to get to the map before them, Kara broke into the time capsule and took it, betraying Tyler and Tempest. The Weather Girls discovered her treachery and returned to the Talon to participate in the pageant.
After Kara was crowned Miss Sweet later Corn, the police arrived and arrested her for the robbery, secretly Tyler and Tempest informed the police of her crime. As she was placed in the police cruiser, Tempest used her wind powers to steal the map away from Kara.
The Weather Girls then went to the treasure site and dug up the spot but found no gold instead discovered a box containing a Kryptonian medallion, wondering if it was worth anything, when Clark Kent found them. Tempest used her powers and threw a tornado at him, which unearthed meteor rocks that weakened him. Kara showed up and stopped both Tempest and Tyler while saving Clark. Tempest was arrested along with Tyler.
