“ | I'm still inside the creature. I can hear its roar outside, I can hear the thunderous beating of its heart. I just wanted to sleep, but I saw the Miracle in my dreams. It spoke to me. That is why I lie down in the Lady's open arms. But the Miracle appeared to me again. It was more and more tangible. Then I woke up, but I was no longer myself. I was a prisoner trapped inside a rooted body. A body immersed in constant anger. In constant pain. I am awake in a sleeping body. | „ |

Ten Piedad is a supporting antagonist and boss in the indie game Blasphemous.
Biography[]
Long ago, there existed a man haunted by visions caused by the Miracle. In his attempt to flee from the curse, he found the statue of a woman with her arms out. Finding refuge with the statue, the man soon grew exhausted and rested in the arms of the statue. Upon waking up, the man discovered that he transformed into that of a plant-like beast, filled and consumed with anger and pain. Attacking all who came in his way, the beast became known as Ten Piedad.
In the Penitent One's quest, he is sent out to find the three Holy Wounds to complete the Three Humiliations in order to open the door leading to the Mother of Mothers. One of the Holy Wounds can be found within the Mercy Dreams, an old prison. In the room to the left of the second Prie Dieu does the Penitent One encounter Ten Piedad sleeping on the statue. Upon waking up, the beast growls in anger, ripping off the head of the statue and throwing it to the ground before targeting the Penitent One.
Ten Piedad attacks the Penitent One in four different ways. He may bend down and attempt to swipe him with his claws. He may stomp his foot into the ground, which causes a thorny vine to erupt from the ground directly below the Penitent One. He may his fists into the ground, causing six vines to burst from the ground, with three spawning directly next to him. He may also spit out two sprouts that form small vines. These vines damage the Penitent One when he is standing on them. They wither away on their own, but disappear if the Penitent One attacks them or if Ten Piedad steps on them. When he is down to half health, Ten Piedad's plant attacks become more aggressive and larger in size; two vines appear when he stomps, three sprouts will be spat out, and five vines emerge when he slams the ground. The only attack that doesn't change is the slap.
Once Ten Piedad is defeated, the beast coughs blood before collapsing, putting the man out of his misery. The gate to the left of the room opens, where the Penitent One obtains the Holy Wound of Attrition.
Appearance[]
Ten Piedad appears as a large plant-like beast with his fingers and toes resembling tree roots. His eyes are black and hollow and sharp fangs can be seen in his mouth. On the back of his head is a large black root resembling a deer antler. His only form of clothing is a cloth wrapped around his hips.
