~ Tenko mocking Sunny. |
Tenko is a minor antagonist in the AMC series Into the Badlands.
He is the leader of a group of nomad scavengers that were hired by the Widow in order to track down and kidnap M.K. due to him being a Dark One. In order to achieve this, him and his group attacked a Cog slave shipment being taken to the Armadillo Territory, putting him and his group into direct conflict with Quinn, the territories leader.
He was portrayed by Alec Rayme, who also portrayed Ghostface, Kieran Wilcox, and the Third Killer (all in-costume) in Scream The TV Series.
Personality[]
Tenko generally appeared to be a regular nomad scavenger, looking for ways to benefit him and his group, as seen when he was paid by the Widow in order to kidnap M.K. and bring him back to her. He was extremely ruthless in fulfilling this job, as him and his fellow nomads murdered all of the Clippers and Cogs in the transport that M.K. was being held in, despite the Cogs being innocent and not posing a threat to him or his group. When he encountered Sunny, Tenko showed distain for his position as a Clipper, mocking him and refusing to cooperate despite Sunny not initially being hostile. He was also very fearless, being willing to attack Sunny even after seeing him easily take down all of the other nomads single-handedly.
Biography[]
At some point in the past Tenko became the leader of a nomad scavenger group, who were constantly looking for way to collect more resources or power. One day, Tenko and his group were contacted by the Widow, who instructed them to attack a Cog slave transport being taken to Quinn, and abduct a boy named M.K. who was in the transport so that he could be taken back to her. Tenko and his nomads attack the transport and kill all of the Clippers, and even murder the Cogs, with only M.K. being left alive. They then lock him in a trunk and take him to their campsite in the nearby woods. After the transport doesn't arrive on time, Quinn sends Sunny, his Regent, to go and see what happened. Sunny finds the transport and all of the dead Clippers and Cogs, and follows the nomads trail until he reaches their campsite. Tenko questions if he is lost, to which Sunny doesn't initially respond. Sunny then explains that he found the transport with all of the Clippers and Cogs dead, with the exception of one. Tenko asks what business it is to Sunny, to which he explains that the transport belonged to his Baron. Tenko then laughs at Sunny and mocks him to this fellow nomads, saying they've got a Clipper before them. Sunny asks if they have the boy, to which Tenko tells him to leave. One of the nomads attacks Sunny, but despite him being armed and Sunny not having a weapon, he is quickly overpowered and killed by him. The nomads then jump into battle with Sunny, but despite vastly outnumbering him, Sunny's vastly superior fighting skill allows him to take down and kill all of the nomads. Tenko, being the last one alive, attacks Sunny. Despite being significantly more skilled than his fellow nomads, Tenko is swiftly overpowered and killed by Sunny.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Leadership: As the Badlands are generally unorganized outside of the Barons hierarchy, nomads are usually scavengers that work without any sort of power structure. Despite this, Tenko was able to establish himself as the leader of a nomad group, likely due to his superior fighting ability.
- Martial Arts: Tenko was able to briefly hold his own against Sunny, and although he was quickly overpowered, he showed a significantly higher level of fighting skill than the other nomads in his group.
Trivia[]
- Tenko is the first named character in the series to be killed by Sunny.
- Ironically, he is the last person that Sunny ever gets a Clipper tattoo for killing.
